Simona on the move

In the grand scheme of things, maybe it's something to do with freeing up space for Moses & Teddy? personally I think he's pretty replaceable, not a world beater by any chance…just a valuable club member

I don't see how they'd be making room for Tedesco and Moses, he's not contracted next yr. Would have zero to do with it. The thought of Simona leaving and Kev staying after the way he defended last yr boggles the mind.

Tigers shopping Simona to rival clubs

WESTS Tigers are in danger of losing star centre Tim Simona as they continue to attempt to juggle their salary cap.

The Tigers have to let a player go to fit under the cap – and RLW has learned that the Samoan international is being shopped around to rival clubs.

Born in New Zealand, Simona moved to Sydney as a youngster and has played all his top grade football at the Tigers.

He has played over 100 games for the club and has also played five internationals for Samoa since being first chosen in 2014.

Several clubs are short of class centres and there is expected to be considerable interest in Simona.

The Tigers were considering releasing utility Kyle Lovett but his future is currently in limbo after he was charged with drug possession recently.

Yeah weird then, don't know much about the contract situation at the Tiges

Raiders had a field day on Simonas side - Twice last year.

If we have to shop players to free up the cap and become compliant. We have to shop player that someone would want (About 1/3 of our team)
Simona may still be able to be sold as a Winger, Maybe a 3/4…
Either way, I don't remember him playing well enough bar one or 2 good games to warrant the mass hysteria around him.
Not fussed if he stays or goes...

As someone pointed out last night. For us to be over the cap with this squad is disgraceful management.

This is CRAZY… Tim Simona could be one of the best Wingers in the NRL if given the chance.

7th year in the NRL and no one else sees it….

Wasted at centre.

Unless the Tigers have another centre in mind then given we already skinny on decent three quarters this decision does not make great sense (maybe one of Penrith's many centres is looking to jump ship and join the Tigers - one can always hope). If the Tigers are over the cap prompting them to move Simona on then you would think that Lovett would now be in the firing line given his recent charges.

Total insanity if this true.If anyone should be shopped around its the witches hat in the right hand side center position.

He didn't play in the first game and he was far from our worst in the second.
He's potentially one of the better centres in the competition IMO, and that we're not seeing more from him is a big reason as to why I question JT

I'm not sure getting rid of our best defensive back is the solution. Can't we just sack Lovett as has been reported?

If Simona did go who would WT replace him with? On the other hand Lovett is on very shaky ground and very replaceable. He will go and Simona will stay.

I am sure it is to help secure Tedesco long term. Brooks and Moses are both reportedly on 600k while Tedesco is reported to be on 450k. 200k extra this year for our number 1 player and who knows it might just be enough to get us over the line.

I'd sell Naiqama way before Simona. Remember, in JTs eyes King Rankin is irreplaceable.

Celebrating mediocrity - nobody does it better than us

I think Kev was approached some time ago and said he'd rather stay. As was Rankin. (I don't think anyone was willing to take Rankin)
