Daily telegraph says we are looking at a swap deal for dale Copley from the roosters and Simona. Is that a big loss or gain?

Just read that too. Makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Have you got a link to the article Ferg?

Interesting news on Dale Copley from a year ago;

BRONCOS CEO Paul White hopes to one day bring Dale Copley back to Brisbane after the Roosters recruit trained with his new club for the first time on Monday. The 24-year-old made his debut in the tricolours, after The Courier-Mail revealed on Saturday that he was heading south to make way for James Roberts at the Broncos. Both Brisbane and Sydney confirmed the deal ahead of his first training session, with Copley signed to the Roosters on a three-year contract, which will see him at the club until the end of 2018.

However, in a statement released by the Broncos, White said it was difficult to let Copley go and he hoped it was not the end of his career in Brisbane, where he had been since the age of 13\. “The last month has not been easy for Dale,” White said. “But the club and his management have remained in constant contact during this period to allow the best outcome for all and not put unnecessary pressure on the player or the process. “I have told Dale he is held in the highest regard by all at this club as both a person and a player. “He leaves with our blessing and support and we hope there is an opportunity for him to one day be a part of the club again.”

It is understood that Copley was on close to $400,000 at the Broncos, which is part of the reason why he was the one moved on to accommodate former Titan Roberts. Copley is believed to be on similar money at the Roosters, with Brisbane expected to pay some of his first-year wage.

The Copley announcement came after the Roosters confirmed they had offloaded star centre Michael Jennings to the Eels, with the club’s recruitment manager Peter O’Sullivan saying they acquired the Queenslander’s services for his natural ability. “Dale is a tremendous finisher, blessed with wonderful footwork and a natural try-scoring ability,” O’Sullivan said in a statement from the club. “There’s no doubt that he will add some terrific depth to our outside backs and we look forward to watching his game develop in the coming seasons.”

Copley was good at the Broncos , if he can find that form again I wouldn't be against the idea , especially if it helps our cap

I'm not so sure it's a bad idea.
Copley as happy said was good at the Broncos,
He is equally adapt to playing wing as well as Centre.
If we signed him for the duration of the roosters contract it would cost us less in the coming years.
I personally like simona but I don't like how his rocks and Diamonds.
The club is moving away from these enimatic types and looking for more steady first graders.
Copley is big, strong and super fast.
On a contract less than the size of simonas he could be signed as depth or replace Rankin.
The roosters might just not have worked out for him.
I'd entertain the idea that's all I'm saying.

Adam Blair looked good at the Storm. Copley struggled when he had a chance to make an impact in an under strength Roosters side

Problem was with people's expectations of Blair were and what Blair's strength's were

People also forget the back row talent we lost within 12 months of signing Blair which would of made Blair a far better signing in the 13 jersey

Copley reminds me of Blake Ayshford… Never lets you down, but never sets the world on fire.

Surely we can swap Simona for Mitchell?

I hope Tim makes the club see out his contract.

For this year?
Then what?

Maybe it's the other way around and Tim isn't get much of new deal from the tigers and is looking to sure up a deal long term.
After all we did just sign a rookie for 3 seasons on a substantial first grade contract starting from next year.
Maybe that was initially money allocated to simona.

Don't think he will have any trouble securing a new deal on his own terms. If he wants to leave now - all well and good - but if this was dumped on him because they couldn't get rid of Kevvie and or Lovett, and they have to relieve cap space for this year, well that becomes the clubs problem not Simonas. And quite frankly as a fan who would like to see the team do well this year he offers a lot more than some of the other players who are contracted imo.

I'm still not too sure it is 'salary cap issue' and not more of squad restructure with some of our off contract stars.
Players leave, clubs release players all the time.
I'm sure Tim Sim is valued by the club. And the club has money available, well just never know the truth till it all comes out in the wash.
I wouldn't be surprised to see a swap happen wherep Tim goes to Roosters (paying part of his contract.
And copley goes to Titans with the roosters pitching part of.
Leave us with nothing but a new space in our top 25 and available cash for any mid season signings.

JT’S BLACK EYE BRINGS BACK MEMORIES

WESTS Tigers coach Jason Taylor was hounded about two things — how he got a black eye, and why James Tedesco was heading over to the Auckland Nines.

We can tell you JT copped a stray elbow while playing touch football earlier this week, while Teddy was simply crossing the ditch to continue working with the club’s strength and conditioning coach, Marcus Kain.

Meanwhile, centre Tim Simona could be part of a swap deal with the Sydney Roosters who are looking to off-load Dale Copley.

James is also there promoting the game with kids because it is NRL community carnival month

I was thinking the same. He is our best player so why wouldnt we take him as part of the promotion of RL

This time of the year is all about getting your brand name out their and Teddy is the face of our brand name and is right up there with a few other elite players as the face of the NRL

copley is an out and out center. look at any broncos forum of the past couple of years to see what they think about his wing abilites, basically we're better off with rankin there. as centers him and simona are probably even but tims ability to also play wing or fullback at a pinch make him more valuable imo.

anyways i dont believe that for a second. we're apparently moving simona to get under the cap and copley is reportedly on about $100kpa more then tim.

It would not surprise if we are indeed interested in getting Copley. I think Taylor wants some big strong boys to try and sure up our dicky defence. Although Simona is not a bad defender, I think Copley might offer a better long term solution
