Have to say I am underwhelmed. Been waiting and waiting on his running game, but so far it’s non existent. Farah made his debut at the same age and made an immediate impact. So far, he isn’t much better than Liddle, and if Liddle stays on, it shouldn’t be a given that Simpkin will be first choice.

He’s 19 and has played 4 games of first grade. Give him a chance.

It is hard to work out what on earth Madge is thinking. Jake is 19 and yet he is playing him huge mins.

With Liddle there it seemed obvious to play Jake 25 - Liddle 15 first half.

But he leaves the kid out there all half, when he has clearly been fatigued from 30 min mark most games.

This kind of mentality is what causes players to leave the club. Their own fans create narratives like this one, which eventually convert into hating on the player through social media. This thread does nothing to help the club.

When we are on the opposition line, he just can't help himself. He is a hog & needs to get the greedy guts out of his game.

He scored a try off it but this sort of stuff turns great players into good but not great players. Robbie had this trait and he would have been so much better if he just got it out of his game.

Cameron Smith had the ability to make the right play consistently and that is what made him so much better than Robbie. I think Robbie was just as talented as Cameron Smith.

I reckon Simpkin has the chance to be really good but he needs to work on his game a lot.

I reckon we need both hookers in the team and both of them learning for a couple of seasons.

I realise he is young but honestly Simpkin struggled last week and again this week with footy at this level for 80. He has had positional lapses in D and his service has been poor. He is not asking questions at dh with his running game and he cant kick at all. Every team in the top 8 is getting much more from their hooker. I think he needs more time in reggies to work on his skill set. Grant spent a couple of seasons learning - jake is in NRL too early.

He'll be tearing us up with the Roosters next year.

The club has stood by Liddle for years, his manager would have to be happy with us nursing him through tough injuries and still give him a chance at FG,he has to get back to his best and Madge knows that, thats why he is having a stint in ressies,Simpkin is developing and Madge is seeing what he has to offer in FG....its not all about player disharmony, but also player managment,Madge will work it out better than keyboard coaches can...I trust Madge will do his best for player and club...

What did he do wrong bar his dropped ball?

His service was poor at times and he didn't make a bust or look likely to make a bust.

Scored a pretty good try last night from his non existent running game

Barging over from dummy half is not a running game.

Real talk tho all of the things he was good at in NSW cup seem non existent in NRL so far. It’s either a case of being too big of a step up for him at this stage of his career or Madge has him playing a style that doesn’t suit him

I think Liddle will go back to starting next week

Alienate him?
He’s been injured most of the time he’s been here and they gave him an extended contract once already.

?

The club has looked after Liddle so much, constantly extended despite being constantly injured. Any talk of the club treating Jacob badly is ridiculous

Agree. He owes us a contract . If the club has put a deal in front of him , he should take it and show his loyalty .

Barging over a metre out is not a running game. He had the perfect opportunity against Manly a couple weeks ago. Got a quick ptb 30 out with a retreating defence, I thought great let’s see what he does. He took the tackle. He might as well have been swimming

Simpkin is 19 we should be expectimg him to start in nrl for a couple of years at least.

We should be going all out for either Brandon Smith or Josh Hodgson with Simpkin to learn and play 20 mins off the bench for 2 years before taking over.

Liddle has played 50 games in 5 years

Can’t compare Simpkin to Smith. Smith came through a far superior system.
