Sione Fainu #284

I understand that, but back then he was tough, fast and a high quality emerging talent.
I don’t think it’s beyond him to get back to a high level if he is committed enough and I assume the possibility of 4 all brothers playing NRL together for the one club would be big motivation.
Why don’t you think it’s beyond him? Do you know him, know the shape he’s in physically and mentally? You’re talking about the version of him that was 8 years younger. There is an entire competition of players we could sign who have been playing the game consistently for years. Instead, let’s get fixated on a guy who hasn’t played in 8 years cos he’s been in jail. All because he has brothers here. Spare me.

I can't believe this fractured fairytale has popped its head up again about the brother finishing his sentence and going on to star in 1st grade.

No one knows where his heads at let alone his body after all this time, would be more sensible to start him off as a cleaner around the COE to get comfortable on the outside again than the straight up pressure of football.

You don’t know that he won’t be up to it either.
It makes little difference to Wests Tigers if he does get back to NRL standard or not, but it’s no harm in giving him an opportunity if he does express interest and shows the right attitude and commitment.

How many said that Taylan would struggle on his return?

No one knows how Manase is doing. Don't be shocked if he gets a train and trial once he's allowed back though
Playing league is like riding a bicycle. Once you learn it, you never forget how to do it. It's a simple game really. If he is serious about making a NRL return, he will undoubtedly have been training in jail.

Look how much of a lift Sione got when his brothers joined the club. Expect much of the same if all 4 bros are at the club.

Yep, muscle memory coupled with desire. A brave person to write him off. Anyway, Manase can become more than a jailbird looking for redemption, he’s been saying he’s not guilty from day one.
Tigers need a Lazarus. Is Bob Dylan still writing and singing?

3rd version of Bob's Hurricane or Supertramp's Dreamer this is the head scratching possibilities

Good example..he was stellar for 7 games last year
Same deal with Manase...train and trial for peanuts, and if hes still got something it buys us time and space from a fading Api and ensure the young contenders earn the slot..unlike TDS

May only missed a year and we still don’t have all the evidence to claim he will be able to go hard for a full season.
This other turd hasn’t played for a lot longer and to be perfectly frank….in what way does he deserve a break?

It"s not liike he's done 5 years in the ESL. Train and trial and make him sleep on a mattress in the changeroom to ease his way in.

Oh - this is the WT’s forum…
you better believe it!
It’s fighting or fantasy here.

I have 3 words that could (but won’t) fix this for them “he’s on parole”
Anyone who’s had anything to do with being on Parole would know what that entails, but being on TV playing footy isn’t it.

It’s almost like this guy is some kind of a Greek god that can return to full power,
After living in prison goup and packet noodles for 8 years.
He was that good he doesn’t need real food like the common athlete.
And his limited yard minutes each day would keep him on tip top shape.

Oh, and the NRL has already stated he won’t be considered for registration until after his parole period is complete - so they can add a couple years onto his 2026 release (if he gets it)

I’m wondering why the idiots are using the 22 yr old Taylan May comparison who was out for 12-18 months and not in prison?
Why aren’t they using the 27-28 yr old Tim Simona comparison - who wasn’t in prison, came back to the game after only 3-4 yrs out and was absolute dogshit..
fading into Nothing…

It really is the best make believe story I’ve heard in some time though Stevo 😂😂😂

Taylan May was training the whole time he was gone. He only lacked NRL level conditioning and some skill work which only took him 5 weeks to get up to standard. Manase we don't know what he's been up to this whole time.

Funny stuff mate, prison goup and noodles, food for elite champions can just picture the tractor tyre he has gained around his guts.

Some dudes are suckers for a feel good story, this is not a Star Trek fantasy episode unfortunately.

Yeah - real ‘feel good’ story.
Went to church and tried to
stab someone to death.

I’d give Haynsey a go at Hooker before the last Fainu.
At least he actually did something in his career.
