Sirronen sacked as U/20 manager

Junior development is definitely a part of the Football Manager's role and an important part at that. I really don't think that Paul Sironen has been sacked but his job has been made redundant by the appointment of Phil Moss. Yes, Sironen was a great player and a club (WT) stalwart but there is only room for one in the driver's seat.

It is the same old management.

This guy has given his all for Wests Tigers and for Balmain before that.
If Moss is taking over that role (under his GM of football title) it would have been the time to say that out of respect for all Sirro's hard work and that we are looking at another position where he can also help the club progress.

This guy cannot be grouped with Skandalas who was out of his depth (as nice a guy as he is) or that fat ratbag with the big mouth who should have gone ages ago.

If it was Taylor (wouldn't think so) he is an idiot because he would not know what Sirronen did.

A new broom and "the new board" charged with putting an end to the Wests / Balmain thing would be the main reason IMO.

Sirro's problem was that he is from one of our foundation clubs and only that - cut all ties is the criteria.

Unfortunately the baby has been thrown out with the bath water - the problem is we NEEDED the baby.

To say Sirro has been "sacked" could be completely wrong. Nothing stopping Taylor and Moss believing there is a better guy for the job available.

"Replaced"??

let's be P.C….how about reached his used by date....

One sided mutual agreement

"Surplus to requirements"?

I love Sirro. He was my favourite player and I've met him and shot the breeze over footy and such and I can hand on my heart say the bloke is a total legend who has time for anyone.

That said, there is reasons behind the move that we aren't seeing. The club is in a huge period of transition and unfortunately good people will be collateral damage. Maybe Sirro wasn't meeting expectations in his position, maybe Taylor wants his own man in, maybe the position is redundant altogether and is being folded in as part of the Football GM role.

The club is making some tough decisions in order to bring the club success. I am OK with this and I am sure Sirro will continue to have involvement with the club in some manner. He doesn't strike me as the sort of man who would just walk away.

Too true

Never met the bloke , but he seems like he would be the sort of bloke who would admit that someone was a better candidate for his job and shake his hand and wish him well and offer any help he could

I agree with Ink , it is ballsy move by the club , but proves that we are deadly serious about change

Every body wanted change and change there had to be ..there is always Colatrale damage when major sifts in organisations happen , I am sure Siro senior understands this and he will always be a legend of the Tiger brand.

Once again speculation about something that we know nothing about.

Perhaps the new NYC coach ( whoever that may be ) will bring his own manager with him/her. Who knows?

Let's wait and see.

I imagine he'd possibly feel a bit more of his own person, would be tough with your old man at work with you all the time….even if they arent in the same place always

This is one gutsy move

Why,,,,replacing the manager of an Under 20's team is not earth shattering ..if his name was Neville nobody would give a toss

He has a lot of friends, he knows a lot of important people….this sort of thing just doesnt happen to Sironens...until now.

Doesnt bother me in the slightest...but it uis a gutsy move

I wonder what his best mate Roach will have to say abou this? Can't wait lol.

This forum is based on speculation most of the time is'nt? Wouldn't be as fun otherwise magpiecol

Per smh article, sirro's role has been absorbed and no longer exists. So that's the reason he is not going to be employed going forward.

Article also said roach's contract had not been renewed.

Kidwell is the only member of last year's coaching staff to be kept on.

Hopefully that answers everyone's questions.

Thanks mate … I posted on the run.

JT obviously thinks Kidwell has something to offer, and he would know more than us who are on the outside looking in.

i've felt kidwell was one of the best coaches at the club from '13, including potter so it's great hes the one we've kept after all this crap.

Kidwell on D, and JT on attack combined with moses, teddy and brooks could be lethal

If Kidwell was our D coach last year we are in for a long year again… Our D last year was pathetic

…...................And former champion second-rower Sironen, who now has two sons playing in his old colours, says he is disappointed.

“New coach, new football manager and new ideas … there’s nothing I can do about it,” Sironen said, “That’s the direction they are going and I’m one of the casualties.

“But I’ll be honest in saying it’s left me with a bitter taste in my mouth.

“I’ve got a gut feel that if you’ve got anything to do with the Balmain side of the merger you’ve got a target on you.

“Having said that it’s all about results I really hope they can turn things around.”...............
