…...................And former champion second-rower Sironen, who now has two sons playing in his old colours, says he is disappointed.

“New coach, new football manager and new ideas … there’s nothing I can do about it,” Sironen said, “That’s the direction they are going and I’m one of the casualties.

“But I’ll be honest in saying it’s left me with a bitter taste in my mouth.

“I’ve got a gut feel that if you’ve got anything to do with the Balmain side of the merger you’ve got a target on you.

“Having said that it’s all about results I really hope they can turn things around.”...............

And people wonder why we can't be as one. I guess Sirro forgot that Skandalis came from the Wests side of the JV.

Imagine the reaction if Skando said that, and that it was anyone connected to the Magpies had a target on their heads.

Its a fair comment. Rightly or wrongly club is moving away from Balmain. Jerseys, board and coaches. Clear and distinct that Ivan Malit is more welcome at Wests Tigers than Balmain.

As I said, rightly and wrongly thats the way the club has chosen to go.

Funny how another role is found for Skandalis but not Sirro.

Looks like the shoe is finally on the other foot now doesn't it.

And that makes you feel happy…. or smug?
I really don't agree that everything was solely focused on Balmain before - but it was the perception, obviously, of some old Magpies.

if it was result driven these sackings, sirro should still be on board,Balmain have won 2 sg ball comps, harold mathews in finals nyc in finals and won one, and a reserve grade grand final in 2012 all under sirronens watch

Portesi was from balmain?
Skando was from balmain?
Potter was from Balmain??
Sour fkn grapes….just goes to show how some of these ''legends'' still think of the joint.

Out with the old, in with the new.

…and Im absolutely gobsmacked anyone that calls themselves a Wests Tigers supporter could even think his words have any validity whatsoever.

Think he will retract or clear up the situation by saying it was taken out of context.

I believe these sacking / replacements are all part of the Brian Smith report. It was always stated they would wait until the coach was appointed before enabling the recommendations in the report,.

Well as of this week Sirro is an employee of the Balmain Tigers, not the Wests Tigers.

So I guess he is simply siding with his employer, and putting the notion out there in the public domain that Balmain won't blindly accept their role in the JV being scaled back (or the perception of such).

I think he is off the mark, and for the record the comments don't sit well with me, and is likely a case of sour grapes/disappointment that he has lost his job.

He sounded very disappointed on 2gb this afternoon, and said he saw it coming after the Brian Smith report was released.

The comments from Sirro were poor form, I expected better of him. I can only assume it's bitterness from losing his job (let's face it no one likes being sacked,) but you never burn your bridges. No one is safe there at the moment, there's hardly an agenda out for specific people. Like I said, if the club believes it is a necessary move I am OK with it.
