Slowing down

Me and my dad were having a convo about the speed of the play, we both agreed that with the refs allowing the defenders to hold a tackle a bit longer and slow the play down has really effected those fast teams, and it's true I believe. The Roosters, Titans, Raiders, Panthers and especially the warriors and the Mighty Tigers have struggled with it, for example, last week against the cowboys, we were on a roll and Bowen and tonga both made tackles while we were running fast and breaking the line, they were alound an extra second or 2 and took our chance out wide, last yr it was faster and those teams above took advantage.
Do you agree that they are being aloud to hold to long especially in fast breaks?

Yeah weve been discussing this on here all year . The slow ruck area has been a factor in certain teams not performing. Its nullified Farahs impact.

Its a bloody joke.

Hence the complete rethinking by Sheens and the need to rebuild - the only problem with this is who knows what rules will be relaxed and what ones will be enforeced next year - its a bit of a lottery if u ask me.

if you watch melbourne storm closely i beleive they are coached to get 3 or more players in on the tackled player then one will roll off then another then another the referee will ackknowledge players attemtping to roll away an play will continue, but havin 2 players roll away and another controlling the player attempting to play the ball slows the ruck speed down enormously. In my opinion the storm are the best team at controlling ruck speed an havin slow play the balls. They use knees on legs, arm grabs even grabbing fingers heads an necks to control the guy trying to play the ball….next time you watch them play jus watch the guys in and around the guy holding the football

Bellamy describes it as, "just working harder in the tackles." I have a different view. Honestly, if I wanted to watch constant wrestling, I'd be a fan of the Greco-Roman.

As stryker said, this has been discussed a fair bit this year with good reason, the impact on WTs not to mention the game in general. It must be sanctioned by the NRL and Harrigan but no-one has explained why as far as I have heard. Maybe it suits the teams with a bit of pull, it has to be easier for the refs as it slows the speed of the game down for them.

If we weren't so easily dominated in tackles maybe this wouldn't be such a big issue . Refs see us like the other teams do in the NRL
