So who is better than Sheens, available and why?

I would have gone for Neil Henry as what he did for the raiders is roughly what the tigers needed. He placed pride in the team and got a team of no names to compete week in week out and play decent attacking football at the same time. A combination of that would work wonders for the tigers. Since his move to the cowboys his tenure has been less than impressive so not so sure anymore.

My recollection was that there was a premiership involved

…then after that...?
Thats why Bellamy ,but not Sheens,is universally accepted as a "good" coach.

It would be tough with that squad and money :unamused:

Bellamy is a good coach no doubt but Origin has shown up a few of his flaws once he is outside his comfort zone. Under him NSW has probably got worse.

His NSW results must really gnaw at him which Im sure is why hes back in the saddle again this year.I dont think its his "comfort zone" that is the core problem, but the players themselves-Ive never seen so many genuinely good players have shockers on the main stage of SOO than in the last couple of years, starting with Robbie farah & David Williams .Im just not sure what a coach can do about this…maybe he gets them too pumped, but they are professional footballers.
Its academic as Bellamy is locked in to Storm ,but not only does he provide consistency & continuity of results(so that premierships dont appear a one-off flukes like us),but to achieve that he continually makes ordinary players discarded from other clubs look like stars. He also gets them up for big games generally
You do all the above ongoing & yr a darned good coach.
In our case, our discards often perform better elsewhere...!That,plus the unsustainability of results from 2005,& the inability to motivate the team for critical games in 08 against Souths & Ncle is why I dont rate Sheens as anything more than lots of talk/spin but no real substance,& whilst Id like to see us do well this year my expectations are modest with the incumbent coaching staff based on past performance.
