Usually, its simply what took hold around 100-150 years ago. Most soccer-mad nations don't have competitive rugby teams either, it's all football-centric.I don’t get how rugby league isn’t the most popular sport in the world
It literally has everything skill fatigue aggression passion
The nrl is also 1 of the most even completions in the world
Soccer is so boring I don’t get how any 1 enjoys it
Also soccer has a very cheap, very low bar to park participation, unlike league where you need more space and kids willing to get tackled.
Soccer is alright but you have to give it time; I was mostly disinterested until about 6 years ago when I decided I wanted a Summer sport to follow, so I started watching Premier League every week. Took about a year - year and half to properly get into it. Hardest part I found was, as a born-bred Leaguie, how much diving there is, and how low scoring matches can see the far worse team jag points. You just have to accept that as part of that code.
