Dominic Solanke scored in stoppage time to salvage a point for 10-man Tottenham as they snatched a 1 all draw against Manchester United in a feisty encounter at Old Trafford.

It looked as if United were about to pile more misery on the visitors following their pitiful start to the Premier League season when Bryan Mbeumo broke the deadlock in the 73rd minute.

Things went from bad to worse for Spurs when Rodrigo Bentancur was sent off five minutes later for headbutting Luke Shaw, who had shoved him over after a reckless challenge from the Uruguay midfielder.

But Solanke, who was captaining Tottenham for the first time, nodded Sandro Tonali's cross into the back of the net in the second minute of added time to lift Spurs off the bottom of the table.

Roberto de Zerbi's side remain winless, however, and stay in the relegation zone - above both Fulham and Coventry City - with just three points from the first six games.

United have suffered their own shaky start to the campaign with just one victory and a sluggish first-half performance was met with boos by the home fans on Saturday.

They were much improved after the break, but jeers once again echoed around Old Trafford at full-time. This was the second successive league game they have dropped points against a team that were reduced to 10 men - following their 1-0 derby defeat by Manchester City last month.

Another late equaliser means we are still without a win this season. Not much to show for our massive off season recruitment.
Hopefully it will click into gear soon.
Come on Ye Spurs.

Oliver Glasner endured a frustrating return to Crystal Palace as his Nottingham Forest side let slip an early lead to lose 3-1 to the Eagles.

After guiding Palace to FA Cup and Conference League success, Glasner left the club at the end of last season and took on the Forest job in the summer.

Initially it looked like it would be a triumphant return to Selhurst Park as Forest took a third-minute lead through Dan Ndoye's neat low finish. They then dominated much of the first half, with Liam Delap somehow denied a second from point-blank range by Walter Benitez.

Palace were not in the game at all but incredibly turned the tables with two goals just before half time.

Daichi Kamada finished off a nice team move to level four minutes before the break for his first Premier League goal, and Jefferson Lerma headed in a second deep in stoppage time.

It got even better for Palace in the second half when Yeremy Pino slotted into the bottom corner, prompting Eagles fans to tease Glasner with chants aimed at their former manager.

Benitez made another fine save late on to prevent substitute Chris Wood from reducing the deficit and giving Forest some hope of snatching a point.

Palace's second win of the season moves them up to 12th in the Premier League, while Forest are 14th.

Mohamed Belloumi scored a second-half leveller as Hull City and Everton continued their good starts to the season with an entertaining 2 all draw at MKM Stadium.

Hull took the lead in the 43rd minute as Joe Gelhardt slipped the ball past onrushing Everton keeper Jordan Pickford after Sorba Thomas had intercepted Ainsley Maitland-Niles' poor pass.

But less than five minutes later, Everton levelled when Maitland-Niles' cross found Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall who nodded in at the back post.

Everton turned things around in the 68th minute when Thomas gave the ball away, allowing Dewsbury-Hall to play in Thierno Barry who finished well.

But Belloumi equalised with 16 minutes to go, firing a shot past Pickford after a cut-back from Elliot Stroud.

Manchester City's first game since being found guilty of breaching Premier League financial regulations ended in a 3 nil victory as they outclassed a 10 man Liverpool at Anfield.

Enzo Maresca's side restored their three-point lead at the top of the table in emphatic fashion - but there remains the sense that this is a season in limbo as City await their punishment, with the potential for Premier League expulsion, relegation or record points deductions.

Liverpool fans made their feelings known before and during the game with constant "cheat" jibes, but City, who have appealed against the verdict of an independent commission, responded with a measured display before picking Liverpool apart, who had been reduced to 10 men when Ryan Gravenberch was sent off.

Erling Haaland broke the deadlock with a thunderous finish after 65 minutes, substitute Jeremy Doku adding the second with a stunning strike into the top corner three minutes later.

And City confirmed their vast superiority when Rayan Cherki produced brilliant individual skill to make it 3-0 12 minutes from time.

The game opened in a predictably fevered atmosphere as the Kop delivered taunts about the guilty verdict, unfurling banners emblazoned with messages such as 'A Generation Of Supporters Cheated', while City fans responded backing their owners by brandishing a flag reading 'In Khaldoon We Trust'.

Once the initial sound and fury died down, the first half was an anti-climax as City slowed the game to combat the hostile environment while Liverpool struggled to make a breakthrough.

The second half showed more signs of life, with City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma saving from Victor Munoz and Gravenberch in swift succession, while Haaland held his head in anguish after rolling a chance wide when clean through.

Gravenberch's dismissal, given a second yellow card for a foul on Doku, left Liverpool with an uphill task as City moved through the gears to win with ease.

A 10 man Southampton battled to beat Portsmouth 1 nil in the Championship and win their first league match against the Blues in nearly 22 years.

Saints scored the game's only goal in the first half when James Bree was found dashing into the box by Finn Azaz, taking a touch before slotting the ball past Pompey keeper Nicolas Schmid.

The hosts were reduced to 10 men before the break when Cameron Bragg was shown a second yellow card for pulling Ebou Adams to the ground.

But Saints held on to see the game out and claim the bragging rights over their bitter Hampshire rivals, moving up to 11th in the table in the process.

This was the first game for Southampton's head coach Tonda Eckert since being handed a suspended six-week ban and a £28,000 fine by the FA for his role in the Spygate scandal.

The club have stood by him throughout the saga and the way Saints rolled up their sleeves in the second half, a man down, suggests the players are firmly behind the German too.

It's all over!
Coventry City stunned Newcastle United with an emphatic 4-1 victory as they won their first Premier League game at home in 25 years.
And they move up to 14th place!
Coventry's four goalscorers tonight had one Premier League goal between them before tonight.
That was Ellis Simms for Everton against Chelsea in 2023.

Newcastle fans saying that 4-1 scoreline is a not fair reflection of the game but criticised Matthias Jaissle's side for defensive mistakes and not seizing opportunities.

The finishing today was the difference.
Newcastle had 19 shots to Coventry's nine - but the Sky Blues were so clinical.

Newcastle goalkeeper Lukas Hornicek hauled down Sidiki Cherif to gift Coventry an early penalty and Jack Rudoni made no mistake with the finish, scoring the club's first goal at home this season to raise the roof at CBS Arena.

The hosts made a lightning-fast start to the second half, too, and teenager Cherif doubled their lead shortly after the restart with a clean finish.

A stunning 70th-minute long-range strike by Sven Botman handed Newcastle a lifeline, but a deflected shot by substitute Ellis Simms put Coventry out of reach - much to the delight of a raucous home crowd.

Stephen Mfuni put the cherry on top with four minutes of normal time remaining when he curled past Hornicek into the top-right corner.

The victory - Coventry's second of the season - lifts them out the relegation zone and up to 14th, where they sit level on points with Manchester United.

Matthias Jaissle's Newcastle remain 11th, with eight points from their opening six games.

Southampton climbed into the Championship play-off places and inflicted a fourth straight league defeat on Norwich City as Kuryu Matsuki scored the only goal of the game at Carrow Road.

Matsuki tapped home from close range in the 54th minute after City goalkeeper Daniel Grimshaw parried Caspar Jander's deflected shot into the Japanese winger's path.

Norwich had chances to get on the scoresheet before and after falling behind, but Jacob Wright shot straight at Daniel Peretz and Jose Cordoba's header was brilliantly blocked behind by Southampton's Lewis Dobbin on a frustrating evening for the hosts.

Southampton move up to seventh after their first Championship away win this season, five points off second-place Middlesbrough, while Philippe Clement's side are 20th, just a point clear of the relegation zone.

In need of a response after Saturday's 2-1 defeat by league leaders Swansea City, Norwich started on the front foot and went close to an early lead when Oscar Schwartau cut inside on to his right foot and fired just wide of the far post.

However, Southampton steadily grew into the contest. James Ward-Prowse bent a free-kick agonisingly wide, Finn Azaz went close with a left-foot volley, and Samuel Edozie was denied by a sharp save from Grimshaw, who started in goal for Norwich with first-choice keeper Vladan Kovacevic ruled out with a concussion.

As well as Wright's spurned opportunity, Saints goalkeeper Peretz was called into action to keep out Mathias Kvistgaarden's header.

Despite a goalless first half, the chances continued to flow after the break and Southampton scored for a 30th consecutive league match through Matsuki's sharp reactions.

Tonda Eckert's side should have added to their tally when Azaz picked out the unmarked Jander with a brilliant cross, but the German midfielder could not hit the target.

Norwich were unable to capitalise though as Peretz got down to deny Anthony Musaba's low shot and the hosts were roundly booed on the full-time whistle.

Queens Park Rangers cruised to a comfortable 4-1 victory against struggling Derby County to end a run of four consecutive draws in the Championship.

The promotion-chasing Londoners moved into fifth spot after seeing off an injury-hit Rams side who never recovered from a first-half onslaught.

Alfie Lloyd and Harvey Vale scored goals either side of a Nicolas Madsen penalty to put Julien Stephan's side in control before the break at Loftus Road. Paul Smyth scored a fourth in the 68th minute to complete a miserable night for the visitors.

Lars-Jorgen Salvesen grabbed a late consolation for the Rams, who have now taken just two points from their past six games.

QPR went close to taking the lead in the sixth minute. Smyth's shot was deflected into the path of Rayan Kolli, who tried to steer home, only to find his path blocked by a brilliant challenge from Sondre Langas.

It was to be a costly intervention for the Norwegian, who was forced off with injury just a few minutes later, further adding to the Rams' recent defensive injury woes.

The home side took the lead in the 18th minute. A long Ronnie Edwards pass found Boy Kemper, who scuttled past Mo Fuseini down the left wing, before cutting the ball to Lloyd. The 23-year-old drove the ball past Josh Vickers to put the Londoners ahead.

QPR doubled their lead four minutes later when Ryan Hedges was judged to have brought down Smyth inside the box as the hosts hit Derby on the counter-attack. Madsen rolled his penalty into Vickers' bottom left-hand corner to increase the advantage.

Rangers were oozing with confidence throughout the opening 45 minutes and three points were all-but-assured just before half-time when Derby failed to deal with the home side's quick movement. A half-cleared ball fell to Vale, who wriggled his way into space and drove a low right-footed shot into the bottom left-hand corner to make it 3-0.

John Eustace's beleaguered side tried to find a way back into the game and went close in the 51st minute. Bobby Clark saw his effort blocked following good work by Sammy Szmodics.

But any hopes of a comeback were finished off in emphatic style when Smyth's curling shot deflected against Joe Ward and sailed past Vickers, giving Rangers a 4-0 lead.

The game ended on a sad note for Rangers when Amadou Mbengue was carried off on a stretcher after seemingly suffering a knee injury late on, with Salvesen grabbing a late goal for the Rams in the 10th minute of stoppage time.
