@stevied said:I really think that a lot of the posters on here are too quick to turn on the coach and players. Fair enough, we are all disappointed and, some of us, furious about what happened at Leichhardt but we have to be realistic. To be honest, I didn't think for one moment that we would win against the Raiders. They are in red hot form, have big rampaging forwards and backs that know how to finish off the slightest chance. We've had problems with teams like this for years. We simply don't have the cattle to match it with a team like Canberra. Yes, we had some poor performers and yes, we didn't seem to turn up mentally, but the fact is, the Raiders are simply better than us. Much better. I'm not surprised we were belted. Too much expectation for certain young shoulders, smaller, less physical forwards, flawed defenders and a few niggling injuries (plus no Tedesco!) all combined to produce that debacle. The reality is that we are not good enough to make the eight yet. You can harp on about missed field goals, poor ref calls, blah, blah….All teams contend with that. We just don't have the roster, experience or culture to be a consistent winning team. We have to accept that and be positive about what we have achieved this year. We came ninth - a big improvement, we learned to grind in a number of games - something we couldn't do before, some star play makers established themselves and the level of professionalism in the club definitely moved in the right direction. I don't understand the supporters who claim we underachieved this year. If anything, we overachieved if you consider all the factors. It was a horrible loss but I think the players and coach will learn from all this year's mistakes and continue to improve in 2017\. We need to look at the whole picture. Sorry for the old school metaphor, but Rome wasn't built in a day!
