Something the forum doesn't know about you?

Have an interest in astronomy and space exploration.

Just fulfilled my childhood dream of visiting both NASA's Kennedy Space Centre last week and yesterday I visited the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum.

If it weren't for my shot ticker I'd have pursued a biology or physics degree in order to apply for admission into the NASA astronaut corps.

Here’s something you don’t know about me.
In 2005 I worked for a company that was divided into two sections. In the opposite section that I worked, was girl that lit up the room wherever she went, a real hottie!
I had only ever made small talk with her and was a little too nervous to ask her out or anything like that.
Most people at work knew I loved the Tigers, I had a small shrine of stickers on the back of my motorcycle helmet and would wear a Tigers hat often.
One day while having my lunch, this girl (the hottie) walks up to me and says; “I heard you love the Tigers, my brother has tickets to the Tigers / Dragons semi, would you like to come?” I was so nervous, I said; “I don’t think I can afford it” She looked a bit awkward and said “no worries, just thought I would ask.”
Later that day, I realised how awesome this opportunity was, and went and found her and said “if the offer still stands, I would love to come.
I went to the game with her, and as you all know that game was something special. Her family also had tickets to the grand final and I was invited.
A few weeks before all this, I went to the Tigers / Broncos game by myself, and I got to say, going to the footy by yourself is not as much fun, as with other people. And a few times that day, I was wishing I could have been experiencing that day with someone.
From that invite to the Dragons game, me and the “hottie” (Kristie) have not been apart and are now married with two kids.
I often think, my life is the way it is because of what the Tigers done in 2005\. There’s a real chance if the Tigers were knocked out that year, we never would have gone out, and my kids would not exist….......ahhhh no kids! (just kidding, love the little devils) :sign:

Cool thread!

Me. Master scuba diver and instructor. Dived all around the world in caves, wrecks and with some bloody big fish (over 7500 dives under my belt). All as a hobby and never as a profession. Though since the kids have come into my life it's taken a back seat. Hopefully pick it back up again when they are the right age to join me on the under water adventures.

I like reading this thread.
I'm pretty boring, don't have much to contribute.

Work 50+ hours a week in a community service role helping out my fellow human then go home sleep/renovate/spend money.

Have an interest in sneaker collecting (Michael Jordan brand), watch collecting, nice crisp shirts and movie/sports memorabilia .

You are far from boring Demps.

I have a very keen interest in horses, not just racing but all types..
I used to be a team roper on the rodeo circuit with the Australian Bushmans Campdraft and Rodeo Association,I also was an endurance rider with the Snowy River Zone…
I would like to do a course on Myofacial Therapy for horses which means basically muscular massage on horses that have sustained an injury..this differs from horse chiropractic as it deals mainly with skeletal manipulation, similar to human chiro....
All interesting, just getting the time to study, difficult if you have full time work and a young family...
People used to bring horses to me that needed retraining and I enjoyed that..eg a horse that had no steering because it wasn't mouthed properly at the break in stage,I would work on it by softening the mouth and teaching it leg aids as well..I could go on for ages about horsey things, but this gives you an idea...
Good thread GNR as a lot of us have heaps of different interests and hobbies..

I respect all animals great and small and horses are a great animal.

Horses are majestic and intelligent indeed, TT! Btw, have you ever heard of SAHA Horse Rescue & Sanctuary up on the Gold Coast? They do amazing work rescuing, rehabilitating and often re-homing neglected or unwanted horses. Some of the transformations of the horses in their care are astounding! You should check out their website or Facebook page if you're interested in seeing what they do.

Flip, great website and thank you for the link,I will look more into it later on.They appear to know what they are doing and what a great group of people doing such a fine job…

Horse rehabilitation and retraining can be hard work at times, but with all things patience and good temperament are essential..
The worst are horses that have been badly treated, they take awhile to get their confidence back in humans and TLC comes to the fore......thank you Flip...cheers mate....

You're one lucky fellow been able to travel so much. Very envious of you Mafia

Not much time for hobbies at the moment, I have a 1 year old. I like watching movies and starting late on good TV shows so I can watch them in bulk.

I travel a few times a year for work. With that plus holidays I've been to 37 countries; the more places I visit, the more I try to make it somewhere new!
