Star Wars - Thread...Contains Spoilers*

I've got to be honest. I was really disappointed. I feel like all the big questions TFA laid out were just brushed aside with poor jokes and cheap one liners.

It didn't have the feel or heart of a Star Wars movie. It was like a Marvel movie set in space.

The film as a whole seemed pointless. It didn't add anything to the main saga. If anything it just took things away.

The cinematography was amazing and there where some really cool shots, but it doesn't take away from the poor direction Johnson chose to take. As an average cinema goer people would probably enjoy the film. But as a massive Star Wars fan I found the decisions Johnson made and the overall direction he decided to take the franchise in disappointing.

Best of luck to JJ Abrams with episode 9\. He hasn't really been left with much to work this.

That was my first reaction walking out of the cinema too. Disney slowly killing off the original heroes to make way for a new generation. Would've liked to have seen LS stick around (in the flesh) for IX to at least show what he's learnt since ROtJ. Also found it strange that snoke was killed off without really explaining who he was. And they missed a good opp for Leia to sacrifice herself so it'll be interesting to see what they do with her in IX.

I think so far the whole new trilogy can be summed up by a couple of quotes from TLJ, ie. "let the past die" & "this won't go the way you think".

In saying that I like the new "main" characters & will give the movie another spin over the Christmas break some time. TFA was criticised for treading old ground but you definitely can't say that about this one.
 
It did though..many common threads with Empire..

It was good without being spectacular. A few issues with the story line and a few scenes droned on a little. Was still plenty better than the prequel trilogy.

Of the movies done since Disney took over Lucasfilm, Rogue One is by and far the best offering.

Can barely think of one redeeming feature.
Was too long, too corny and overall an utter anticlimax.
 
Typical starwars flick for mine.
Tedious characters, portrayed by average actors, delivering poorly written lines, within ridculously crafted situations and a story that has been done a million times.

As always the special effects were eyecatching but as always, not enough to save the movie. My 7 year old nephew loved it so theres that I suppose. Hopefully the next one is the last?
 
Well there is 3 more stand alone movies in the pipeline

the trilogies make billions so I wouldn't be holding my breath for them to stop making them..

The last Jedi ... There was about 20 mins that could've been cut from this movie as I thought it dragged on a little to long , but overall I thought it was brilliant and a great follow on from the Force Awakens !

This, a lot of holes, weird character decisions. Was hoping to be blown away and was only left disappointed
