Mikaele is over rated just like Talau, they can both go as far as I am concerned.

Mikaele has not taken the next step

No but you need to have him see out this contract, because the potential is there. Look at guys like Taniela Paseka or Curtis Siro, they took years to start to see some of the form you originally hoped for. Or maybe Mikaele just needs to be shifted off to Manly.

Paseka in particular is a year ahead of Mikaele career-wise, though they are the same age. Paseka had no motor until 2020, he was all attack and a liability in defence, but he started to improve this year.

I'm not saying get rid of him ...but we needs to be told in no uncertain terms he needs to take big steps in 2021 if he wants a new contract

my preference for the forward pack would be the following

Tamou
Liddle
Twal
Blore
Leilua
McIntyre

Aloiai
Hetherington
Musgrove/Utoikamanu
Simpkin/Walters

I certainly agree with your forward line up just think Musgrove and Aloiai have to be in starting lineup ahead of Twal at prop as they make a lot more metres which is our one of our biggest problems. McIntyre similar to Twal both have good tackling techniques but I doubt they would make the metres we require in middle of field. Bench players must be in 17 though.

I would add one player left field here to our forward lineup which I have given a lot of thought too recently by transforming Joey L into a second rower which may surprise lot of people.

I would get him very fit in the off season play him in on the right side. He cannot read defence out in centres just a huge liability leaks in tries every week playing there that’s why Stuart let him go.

We need to improve our defence right across the team. I feel it would fix our major problem on the right side in defence by playing him here instead of in the centres.

He would be a big body damaging ball runner making metres like his brother. He could run at opposing teams halves attracting defenders with his ability to offload creating space.
In regards to his poor defence I feel he would make the tackles one on one better because it would be easier for him to read.
He gets caught out by sweeping plays bad reads or faster centres which he wouldn’t have to deal with as much when defending in the second row.

I would be interested to read any feedback on playing him here instead of in the centres.

Back of office coaches couldn’t be let go as we didn’t have the money to do so.

That’s not true all could have been gone at the end of 2019 ...some where with new Flegg and Canterbury Cup coaches Millard was brought in the rest were extended into this year by Maguire

Worth a try during next years trials.
However he is very lazy player with poor tackling record.
So he would need to turn around his attitude substantially if that move could ever fly.
I would say that he will be out of door by the end of next season if he produces another 2020 effort.

As much as I'd like to see Joey used as a damaging edge backrower, I just don't see the work ethic in him. Sure, you could push him as hard as you like at training but I reckon he'd crack and want out. Now wait a minute...that may not necessarily be a bad thing...

Think you are totally wrong with JL. He would not make a forwards bootlace and you could give him ten years and it wouldn't work.

He will improve ten fold in defence and attack next year just by the simple fact Benji is retiring - it will work wonders for Nofo as well.

I would suggest that he is not lazy - he would be very frustrated at not getting the ball and at Marshalls arm grabs, I know I would be.

I think he should be used for a 30 minute period before and after HT in the middle. He can be a damaging runner with offloads.

Defence could be suspect but I still think he's better in the middle for 30 than at centre for 80
