What would Momo look like at fullback, plus kicks goals.?

Much like Douehi tall and slow but without the ball skills. Based on his one game there (against Cronulla) he would add excitement through being unreliable under the high ball.

Enough said.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see James Roberts given a crack at fullback in the trials

* He debuted as a fullback in first grade at Souths before they moved Inglis there
* Doueihi mentioned on the podcast that he wasn’t happy with his own performance at fullback especially in relation to speed (I assume this feedback came from the coaching staff)
* They recruited Roberts to address the issue of speed

If this was successful we’d probably see Mbye used as a bench utility until Simpkin is ready (I assume coaches want Simpkin to get some reserve grade games under his belt first) and also as back up fullback if Roberts is injured/suspended/on personal leave.

Then Talau and Momo could fight it out for the centre position, with the unsuccessful candidate used as a back up centre/winger.

Thoughts?

JTJ doesn’t have the brains, experience or work ethic to play FB. It would be bombs away. Has he even been cited at training yet?

You mean "sighted" I think.

Maybe he was saying that he has not been seen at training, so has been cited to attend from the new year.

Given the 12months JTJ has had, in his own words, he will need to time rebuild some fitness, confidence and some form.

Fullback is not the place to do this, centre would be.

Fair enough.. you’ve all convinced me. Round 1 might be a chance for Talau to show his ability at 5/8 if Mbye is our only option at fullback.

Remind me not to take you on at scrabble

I really hope Talau kicks on this year! He has talent and a great finisher! Could use some sprint classes. Would love for the tigers to have a player that the whole competition froths over. Someone of the mold of staggs and s.crichton, genuine game breaker! I think out of all the young players we have atm, he’s the guy who is
most likely to kick on.

Lol. I don't even know how some blokes can be so bad at catching a large object.

Needed a laugh.......Roberts fullback, Momo 5/8......

Its been a long off season....

Heres a bombshell. I dont think there is any guarantee that Roberts will play a single game for us. Its 50/50 as to whether he could even stay straight for the season start. I hope he does, but im not putting any money on it.

As for momo....lucky to be first grade at all.

“Lucky to be first grade at all” ??
So he can start with the premiers but Tigers, who haven’t made the playoffs in a decade can’t fit him in? He may not have a clutch moment which sticks in people’s minds but he has nailed the reliable part of his play. I think he is the best centre we have at this time. I’m waiting for the other centres to prove me wrong?

Let's not also forget he's currently second in our clubs history for most points scored in a NRL game. (26, almost beating the record set by Hodgson in 2005 of 30)

He’s not in the same world as Roberts or Leilua and well behind Talau too. He’s a solid depth player who will likely play CC all year unless there are injuries.

Roberts hasn’t had a good year in ages and leilua was garbage last year, momo will have a chance to prove himself throughout the year

I think I will keep my opinion of Momo as I have before...great football brain and gives 100 percent and in the words of Bellamy who is a multiple premiership coach...""If Momo wasnt injured he would have been in the GF side""speaks volumes for the guy...

Thats up to him and Madge,if he is competing for a position and is doing better than his teammates then he gets a chance...it all depends on what Madge wants from his players..its a fierce competition playing NRL.you have to be consistent and play your best week to week, otherwise someone else steps up to the plate...

Happy to be the odd one out. Have said before i dont rate Momo. I hope he proves me wrong over time, but whatever position you put him in, he wouldnt be in the top 20 in the competition. I think he is a fringe first grader at best. My opinion only. Been wrong before.

I like Momers. He's a wholehearted player who can bounce back from setbacks. I'm hopeful JTJ will be back to his best, but until he proves himself, I wouldn't be considering him as a start up for a centre spot. So, Momers gets the gig until/if Roberts proves he has his head right.

Wasnt it the storm chairman who said something like that?
