Basically, there is no cooling off period as there was in seasons past, in which a player could renege on a deal once agreed, finalised and registered with the NRL. Stefanos contract was never registered and finalised as WT were waiting for a response about his release from Parra for 2020. If he had been granted a release they would have had to amend the contract to add another year with the relevant salary to match, then register it. Now that the contract is signed and registered it's official and cannot be broken unless the club grants an official release from the contract.

He can still pull a Matto. I think that's what the grubs are banking on.

But it sounds like the kid is of good character. Which is the reason why he is honouring his eels contract.

Again, we all thought Matterson was of good character. Need to stop assuming certain players are stand up guys. Any of them can turn on a dime.

Let's just hope Matterson and Moses don't spread their disease onto him this season.

Agree. I hope we're lobbying the NRL to provide some sort of policing of this (if they aren't looking at measures already). The game will be brought into severe disrepute if the Matto *Wah Wah* situation happens across the code.

I am glad it has been announced, however think it has more to do with Parramatta saying they won’t release him early. That is fine as he will develop this year and be primed for a big 2021 with us.
Imagine if they don’t use him, how much he will further despise them

I still wouldn’t give up hope he’s here at some point this year, even if it isn’t by round 1.

Yeah and if they were to release him before Round 1, it would make sense if they were going to release him to do it just before Round 1, so he has minimal training time with us. They then upgrade someone who has been training with them all along anyway.

They are some remember, it wouldn't surprise me.

Stefano could claim its getting all to much for him at Parra he's feeling pressured to perform etc etc and request a release

I spoke with a girl who's knows him today and she spoke so highly of him football is his focus and has morales she said some terrible things about the parramatta club her boyfriend plays lower grades at another club she was also saying alot of younger players are getting on to a drug called G I have no idea what it is but it's hard to drug test

But said Stefano is down the line does not touch a thing and will be at the Tigers

100% Correct. I would add (importantly IMO) this also usually means the Contract has been registered by the NRL which is *very* important in this case.

I would hazard a guess that we were waiting to see if we could get him this year so a contract for this season would be required .. with the Eels standing firm..they held off the announcement ...I think the 2021 deal was registered a while ago..just my take..

That’s the difference between the strong clubs like the Roosters/Storm vs clubs like Parramatta.
Do you honestly think Bellamy or Trent Robinson would Promote a player who is leaving and place them into their top 30 and develop him further for the opposition ??
Not on your life ! Robinson showed a champion like Latrell Mitchell the door without a seconds hesitation so he can get the next best thing (Billy Smith) a shot in the top 30.
Also, how motivated will Stefano be, when his playing for peanuts , knowing that a better contract awaits him elsewhere 🙄.
I can’t believe Parramatta are further developing this kid for us!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I for one don’t mind him staying at Parra this year. For a couple reasons

1. Hey, if Parra wanna be suckers and help him develop his game for us. Let them.

2. I’m happy to watch him run around for a year in another jersey so I can get a gauge for what sort of player he is. If he’s killing it, it gives us something to get excited about for 2021. And Parra can suck it.
