We all want Stefano to stay but if he wants to go elsewhere we can’t stop him, I do expect Roosters to come knocking though come Nov 1 if we haven’t resigned him by then, hopefully we do but if he goes he goes cannot change that just hope he’ll at least honour his contract and not pull a Matterson or Aioiai if he does go elsewhere but hopefully we keep him, if not well we better go Prop hunting for 23 and 24

I'm not too worried about Stefano at the moment but realistically he'd be a fool to stay with us instead of going to a big club if he has the opportunity

It's up to the club to have a strong 2022 and show him it's worth staying. Unfortunately I don't see that happening

Its not like the club has given up and wants him to be the main man leading the team..
If i'm Stefano I can see the club changing with the likes of Papa and Koro heading over next year (2 top line players) We will also have funds to buy more and then you add the COE... I personally think we are becoming more professional and will only get better. The only way he doesn't extend is the fact the Roosters are doing there normal work behind the scenes (NRL turn blind eye of course).. Shame but the longer this goes on the more I think he will go otherwise he would of extended by now and took the increased salary immediately and not in 2 years time ..
Would love to keep him long term as he looks very happy and will be a REP player for years to come.
Fingers crossed as this is a Massive deal Sheen's needs to win IMO

There is nothing to stop his manager talking to other clubs now and striking an in principle deal they just can’t say it till Nov 1……believe you me Nick is working to get Sef to the roosters, the sombrero is on

IMO they have been working on it for months. As have others including Storm.
It’s time this club got down into the gutter and sealed a deal like this. Sick of watching talent walk out the door because of our good guy attitude. Find his weakness in his personal life and exploit it.
For instance there has got to be someone in his family that could use some help?

This reminds me of a joke.
A couple move into their new home.
Hubby says: I need a hammer
Wifey says: go and meet the neighbour and ask him
Hubby walks over the neighbours house and is worried. He says to himself,
What if he tells me to get my own,
What if he tells me I'm being rude
What if he takes a swipe at me
What if...what if... what if
He finally gets to the door and knocks
The neighbour opens up the door and before he has a chance to say something the hubby yells
“You Can Shove Your Hammer Right Up your @#$e and then storms off.
Analogy is: Someone goes to Stef's house who has just signed an extension and before he has a chance to say something he's told to @&$k off to another club.

I don't think he'd be a fool Jc, the club is actually one of the better clubs.
The CoE, strong membership and fan base,
Improving squad and pathways, recently quality signings, strong sponsorshi
ps. It's the media that tars us with the same brush for not making the finals.
Making the 8 isnt life or death IMO. The top 4 with 2 bites of the cherry maybe.
Remember recently when Brisbane pipped us to make the qualifier only to be thrashed in week 1, noone bashed the Broncos but they bashed us.
Usually good players players will opt to go to clubs like Brisbane, Melbourne and the Chooks to get into SOO but Stef has provan he can make it from the WT and of course there's the $$$ but sure we have that covered.
The only thing left is after football security which the sombreros often talk about and the likekyhood of winning a grand final.
He seems a nice lad, hopefully, as you said Jc,
we can sell this to him and make life at the tigers a happy organised and confident place.
👍

I always said not to get too attached to him, to think of him as a player on loan. Because it was obvious if he becomes a monster, no way will we be able to keep him. He still can’t negotiate for 10 months, so anything can still happen. But the smart money would tell you he’s hanging off to see what other clubs will be offering. And if you look at that objectively, it’s the right thing to do.

Definitely the smart thing to do. He's a chance at origin this year which makes his value go up a decent amount alone

Surely the club is offering him a lot more than his current contract, with incentives for playing rep footy

I am sure they are making him a very good offer but how are his teeth business portfolio and family cars going

That is the correct thinking Paul.
Get creative.

This is nonsense. Of course we can keep him. We just signed the second rower of the year who is at this point a much better player than Stef.

If his manager is playing games, and holding out for the Roosters as mentioned earlier, then it looks like we can’t. Stefano has something up his sleeve that Isiah doesn’t which is Origin. His value will skyrocket because of that.

I disagree regarding Origin and the talk about him going to the Roosters is probably just pessimistic fan BS.

Let's just wait and see. There is no need for the dramatics regarding how bad we are and how we can't sign anyone.

I would like to see us play dirty and do what the top teams like paying his uncle 100k to be a part time legal adviser to the club. At the same time we lost Tedesco and we didn't go any worse.

Don't tell me stef has had wood fire pizza with Robbo and his French misso too. Played golf with friend who got a suprise call from Nick who just so happened to call him just to see how he was doing.

I'm sure they're offering him decent coin but if he proves himself as an elite prop by the end of the season he could get a lot more most likely.

Haas signed a deal too soon and has been underpayed, Stefano will most likely try avoid the same mistake.

I find it funny that since he hasn't signed yet that MUST mean he's talking to the roosters and wants to leave

He's got a whole two seasons left on his current contract - he has absolutely no reason to go out and sign a new one, especially when he's so young. Honestly I'm not going to worry about it until the back end of the season
