He was possibly even better for us. It's just a player at their peak leaving us. I reckon Kev Naqiama is the classic example. He was just reaching his peak and then we let him go.
I know. He improved so much his final season here.

Did you see him play against us. He hits it up better than basically every prop in the game.
Something about Aloiai...

I've always thought he was a lot like Galloway to an extent.

Big guy that looks tough but is in no way threatening.

I've never been a fan.
Manly fans at the barber shop I go to absolutely love him though.

After they unveiled a five-man captaincy group, the buzz word around the Wests Tigers this year is "leadership" as they aim to end a finals drought that stretches back to 2011.

Leadership, it is often said, is an action not a position, and nobody encapsulates that more than Tigers prop Stefano Utoikamanu.

Towards the end of 2021 the 21-year-old, who will start in the front row for Saturday's season opener against Melbourne, carried the team on his back.

While he wasn't named in the leadership group composed of Adam Doueihi, James Tamou, Luke Brooks, Tyrone Peachey and Ken Maumalo, Utoikamanu wants to back up his stellar season to turn an underperforming club into a force.

"To have that kind of impact on the team is what I want to do," Utoikamanu told AAP.

"To be a good player you have to be a leader first. I don't mind that pressure.

"We've had a few talks about what pressure does to players. I think pressure makes good players and if you don't like it then you've not got much hope of being a good player."

Isn't that the coaching staff to blame then if he would go to a different level at another club?
Ive made excuses for Brooks many, many times, however I still think he will do well this year with Hastings beside him...As for people saying he will be much better elsewhere and do great,I doubt it unless he is SURROUNDED by quality players, something he hasnt had consistently here...Harry Grant is an example of someone playing to his ability and improving under a good coach while with us as he admitted himself,Brooks always speaks highly of Madge,Luci reckons Madge is the best coach he had...
So is it coaching, mental toughness or not being able to handle pressure week in week out...OR IS IT POOR PLAYERS AROUND HIM (excluding the club icon)..

GO Stef...

21 year old shaming the old blokes.
If you don't like pressure piss off.

He probably didn't mean that but I can pretend haha.

GO Stef...
Even Walters looked half decent for broncs tonight

Goes to show when a team has a dig.

Sorry to say last years ours was the softest, lacking in intensity, and not having a go team in the competition.

That's where most of our issues begin and end.
Last year was a woeful disgrace. A lot of those guys have a lot of work to do to earn trust back.

I wonder if the players think that leadership involves pressure?
Stef is absolutely 100% spot on, when he says you can’t be a good player without showing leadership qualities. So what are they afraid of?

Which makes it even more obvious how much a certain halfback could excel in a stronger side….like everyone else whose left.
Is that the logic behind having so many captains? As an example, take Doueihi’s defence? It dropped off noticeably when he moved to WT. It can be a lot easier for a new guy to accept the standards held by a huge majority, as opposed to letting them know their game needs to lift.
Hastings, perhaps is the sort of guy who is not a kid trying to fit in, so may not care about majority rules and path to mediocrity?
