Tedesco or someone of his caliber was here and led us to a GF win that person would definitely be considered a champion to lead a team that’s struggled and win the competition going to the Roosters or Storm doesn’t make you a champion on average every 5 years I guarantee both clubs will have won a premiership

I really don't understand the jumping on a bandwagon of a good club. Victories would just feel more hollow.

I think if you do that it's a sure sign you will never be a champion player.

Disagree with this.

Tedesco is a perfect example.

I was going to use Tedesco as an example of the point I'm making. The guy could only do well in a top team.

If he had stayed with the Tigers and led us to the finals etc then he would be a champion.

I get that people can view the same situation differently. Tedesco is a guy with a tonne of ability to play footy but he'll never be a champion in my eyes.

I get what you're saying.

Not like a Thurston who lead his team to the promised land.

Lead?
He dragged them mate....
He's one in a generation, Such a competitor....

But even when he was playing with them Cowboys still struggled not hating on JT he really was legendary but Cowboys have been struggling for years and he led them to a premiership he’s the reason they won Tedesco while he’s a freak don’t get me wrong he joined one of the most successful teams in the competition and won a premiership heck they might have still won if he wasn’t there they are just successful but if Tedesco or someone of his caliber was here and led us to a GF win that person would definitely be considered a champion to lead a team that’s struggled and win the competition going to the Roosters or Storm doesn’t make you a champion on average every 5 years I guarantee both clubs will have won a premiership

Teddy was almost a single hand in dragging the 2021 Roosters to the finals. Had he been missing, they would have ended up near us.

Like I said he’s talented and a freak but he just happened to join one of the most successful clubs and happened to win 2 premierships if he was still at the Tigers and led them to a premiership he would then be considered a champion unless you’re a Roosters or Storm fan most of the other fans wouldn’t say those players are champions they just happened to join one of the most successful clubs and win

He was never going to lead the rabble he played alongside to a premiership. There was no hope on the horizon of signing better players and we were losing good ones coming through the system.
He is a professional sportsman who made a professional sportsman decision. Since then he has achieved it all. Of course he is a champion.

Correct. Champions don't come along very often. It's not just about ability.

He took the easy path. Champions don't do that.

A champion is someone who surpasses all rivals in a sporting contest or competition.
Teddy is the best in his position. He has won NRL competitions State of Origin series and Test matches.
By the very definition of the word he is a champion.
Just because you don’t like him leaving us, doesn’t make this untrue.

He’s one of the best players in the game I never said he wasn’t and let’s be honest we were all bummed out that he was leaving us but we have accepted it and moved on yes he’s won Origin and represented Australia and won huge honours no denying that but he went to a club that’s known to be successful which I get is appealing but its not like when he left us he went to another struggling club like Dragons or Warriors and won them a premiership he went to one of the most successful clubs and won 2 which is a huge honour for him no doubt but really he just jumped on their bandwagon and went with them if he went elsewhere and won that team a premiership besides Storm or Roosters he would then be considered an ultimate champion yes technically he is a champion by definition since he won a premiership but its an ever bigger one to go to a struggling team and win them a premiership just jumped on the already winning bandwagon and won them another one and won one himself

Teddy walked into a finals ready roster with good depth.

RTS, out.
Tedesco, in.

Team made Dale Copley look solid.

Stefano could be an icon at the Tigers, not just to us die hards but to the greater NRL community.

We're a work in progress, not like the Roosters.

Hopefully he backs himself to make it with us.

So he has missed out on being a super dooper champion?
That must hurt him.

I’m sure it doesn’t but like @Demps said he walked into a successful club and won with them it would have been seen bigger going to a struggling club and won them a premiership take Peter Sterling would Parramatta have won 4 premierships and appeared in 5 grand finals without him? Probably not yes they still had a good team with Eric Grothe and Ray Price and many others but they sure wouldn’t have made 5 grand finals and won 4 of them maybe one or two if they got lucky but certainly not 4

End of the day,

We need Stefano more than he needs us.
Hopefully the club looks after him and assures him that he's in good hands.

Agree. It's why Johns and Thurstons are in a different league to the cronks in my eyes.

We need to get better with our recruiting. Get our legends in there, for God sake, ask barty to see if she'll pick up the phone and have a chat to stef.

We're so weak when we say "oh, if he wants to go, let him". That's loser talk. Remind him that he can be part of something greater than jumping on a bandwagon. He can be in the same regard as a Johns, a Thurston, a tamalalo or a benji. The Tigers could be his greater glory.

Those Parra sides were jam packed with rep players. They were the Roosters/Storm. Is Sterlo a champion?

If our recruitment team was smart, that wouldn’t be the case.
Just offering elite players a salary is why they don’t want to join us.

Weak mentality. Like Johns, Thurston or even our Benji?

Who does Stefano look upto in the current roster?

Tamou?

If so, that’s a failure.

He needs someone that he can look upto or learn from.

This could have been Finucane, but who else is out there?

Why can't he become that guy that inspires the others?

Be the leader of the pack.

I reckon he's got it in him.

Yeah he has it.

But remember, he’s 21.

Needs another titan with him
