Sterlo's Praise of Heighington

Anyone else notice Sterlo giving Heighno huge wraps on Friday night, during the game, and again today on the Footy Show. He said he has a made a huge difference to the team since coming back from injury. Now, don't get me wrong, I like Chris a lot and he always gives it his best when playing, but I think Sterlo is going just a bit overboard with the praise - I don't think he really hasn't made that much difference. Maybe he caught wind of some of our negative criticism of Chris and wanted to balance the ledger. What do you people think? Am i being too harsh?

No I think your fair in your call on Heino. He is as wholehearted a player as you'll find I just think his impact is limited. I find Liam and Blair more skilful than him and with Ellis to come back I struggle to give him a spot ahead of BMM or Bell. Interesting times ahead.

Yeah that's what I thought guys, but Sterlo is a pretty astute judge - certainly better than me, so I just wonder what we're all missing with Heighno.

As has been said before ,the attack usually dies when he has the ball,

On Friday he recorded a team high 5 offloads.

Don't forget the pass he threw to Lawrence who set-up Lote's try. That criticism certainly doesn't apply for friday night's game.

I think he has made a difference, I think his attack has improved as well. He has a little bit of footwork which just allows him to get away from the defender a touch to get the offloads away. He showed he can play before the line as well with that pass to Lawrence which he has done a few times this season.

That's just from the outside looking in because he would also provide a lot of things that we don't see such as leadership and enthusiasm which helps lift the other players and provide a good vibe on and off the field. We saw what the players were like last year when there was talk he was leaving.

Central Coast local hence the bias from Sterling. Have you ever heard Sterling say anything bad about Moltzen?

Haha! I think you've nailed it Gary! However, I'm also from the Central Coast and I say heaps of bad things about Moltz

Why?
Sterlo was born in QLD and grew up in Wagga

I see Heighno made 127 metres on Friday, I struggle to work out how. He's not hitting the line at the same intensity he was last year or any time before for that matter, he's employed this little shimmy before impact which makes him a target hence why he's being upended more often than not. He's wholehearted and his commitment and passion for the club is invaluable, but I just don't think he's doing enough to warrant selection anytime beyond this year.

Matt Bell, (whose been one of our best this year), has got little or no game time since Heighno's return. I can't help but think we're preparing to move him on at the end of the year, which would be a real shame.

Pretty sure his wife is from up the coast way. Used to baby sit for my neighbors.

Maybe he is just playing into her good books!

Maybe cause he had a pretty good game the other night???

Agree, I thought he played quite well, plus he came up with 5 offloads which was more than half of the entire team's effort combined.

Heighington's mother used to live 2 houses away from where I live now!! Sterlo lives at Matcham?

At some point fulton overtook Heighno, but I'm not quite sure when it happened. I used to rate Chris much higher going back pre 2010, but fulton's his work in defence and off the ball is really valuable as well as his line speed.

I admit Chris was better this week than he was pre-injury. I also noticed and liked his numerous offloads.
