If I were on the Board , If Sheens is sacked / quits , I would put the Head Coach , Assistant Coach , and Defensive Coach position up for tender. However, I would make it more a coaching panel , with any coaching decisions to be approved by vote. This would eliminate the charge of nepotism etc.
In this tender process , I would have emphasis on the best combination I could attain. I would make it known that a "Team " of three would be the desired Tenderer. However we would look at all applications on merit. I would have Grant Jones take over for the rest of 210.That would give the club the opportunity to see what coaches out there want $$ wise , compared to their experience and success rate. There are plenty of experienced coaches , and eager ex - rep players out there , hanging to coach.
Fo an applicant with NRL experience , this would be an opportunity to pair up with another experienced coach , and possibly hire an ex-first grader, preferebly with representative honours behind him. They could lay out their plan for 2011, look at and meet the team they could possibly take the reigns of. That would be of benefit to all involved , rather than have egos blind to the bleeding obvious. Sort of like when a few construction companies get together to tender for large urban or infrastructure projects.
