Sticky Stuart to Coach Tigers in 2011!?!?

@Geo. said:
Sorry …..I guess I always figured that All the blame Sheens that gets heaped on him for performances is a little missplaced cause the fossils on the board of the Wests Tigers keep renewing his contract despite the mediocraty.....it's ironic to me..

Sorta like the players he picks who aren't up to it....it's not their fault he picks them...or expects them to perform...

But you are right I don't think you ever said Sheens signed himself...apologies

I

LOL…And why are you bothering to bring this to the so called fans' attention?? It's useless and pointless..
Maybe there should be more signatures reading SACK THE BOARD...

I remember a time when Stuart Flanagan's name was thrown up as a replacement…

Sticky & Flanno....package deal

Phil Rothfield is an idiot.

Sheens to stay involved with the tigers beyond his tenure as Head coach. You'll see

Geez…let him finish playing first....Shane flanagan may be a better option

Correct …..got my Shane's and Stuart's mixed up

Lot of speculation being thrown around but i cant see them throwing Sheens out unless we get pasted evry week and miss the 8\. As long as we dont end up with Taylor, Hagan or Royce i will be happy but i trust Humphreys will make the right descison. :righton:

If Stuart becomes coach I will be gone se ya bye bye couldn't take many more years of failure this only strengthens my view this whole club is run by not so smart people.

I'm pretty sure that if Sticky took over in 2011' and we were undefeated after round 7, i'm sure you would have more than just a passing interest to watch em'.But in saying that, Kearney would be my first pick!

LOL oh chris you are a good one.

sheens has one winning season in his last 12 coaching seasons, he did nothing at the cowboys and besides a freak 12 week run we had in 05 he hasnt done much here either.

infact the only time he shined as a coach was when he had guys like daley stuart clyde meninga nandruku belcher lazarus in his ranks…. i can play this silly game too, but WT as a team have gone <----- since 05 IMO there is no difference between finishing 9th or 16th,

Our playing roster is on par with the storm and dragons id say player for player we are better then the titans and penrith and bulldogs but we keep losing year in year out and there is one main stay in this whole period of failure and thats sheens, stuart has 3 players in that team that are of top class standard (barrett gallen toupou) the rest are a mix of park footballers and fringe FG players, we cant use that excuse, we have over half our team that have played or currently play rep footy

Stuart like i said would not be my foirst choice but id take him over brown taylor and other available coaches

I am so sick of hearing the 1 finals series in 12 years. Yes, he has made the finals once in 12 years but let's break down those 12 years. In 1997 he took over from the Cowboys who were a laughing stock and lasted 4 and a half seasons there. He inherited players that should not have been playing top flight football so he had to re-build the team. Unfortunately for Tim he wasn't allowed to do what he wanted there by the board and his first 3 years trying to re-build the club were wasted because he wasn't allowed to buy the players he wanted which inevitably lead to failure in 2000\. He only served half the season in 2001 and walked out a frustrated first grade coach. So in reality do you count those years where he was forced to coach with his hands tied? I don't.

In 2003 he took over here at the Tigers. He had to clean up the catastrophe that was Terry Lamb so you really cant count those years as well. From 2005 till now is entirely a different story. It's a bit rough counting his first 7 years coaching after leaving the Raiders because of the adversity he faced. I don't care how good a coach someone is, no-one can succeed in that role facing what Tim faced.

Let's look at his tenure at our club since he took over. He has built a successful junior program and our NYC team as well as both the BRET and Western Suburbs NSW State Cup teams are reaping the rewards of that. He has unearthed and developed talents such as Benji Marshall, Robbie farah, Chris Lawrence, Liam Fulton, Chris Heighington, Blake Ayshford, Tim Moltzen and more recently, Andrew Fifita and Simon Dwyer. He has attracted players like Brett Hodgson, Todd Payten, Scott Prince, Gareth Ellis and Lote Tuqiri to our club. Has he improved our club? Yes. Are we in better shape on and off the field than what we were in 2003? Yes. Has he made some bad decisions that has cost the the first grade team? Yes. To say he has done nothing here shows how some people around here are clueless and possess a very low mental acumen.

I'm not here to defend Tim, in fact, I believe if we don't make the finals this year I think we should re-evaluate his role here with the club. I honestly think that 1 finals series in 12 years is an unfair assessment when you take into account the first 7 years. I think 1 finals series in 5 years is a fairer assessment of him.

rothfields just doing everything he can to get stuart gone from the sharks.
surely we wouldn;t take him it would just be a transfer from rubbish to rubbish.
The only reason he did well at the rorters was Fittler.

ok so if thats the case take out sheens record at the raiders

Only reason Stuart was successful was because of Gus Gould. Same could probably be said about NSW side too.

Well we do have a board that rewarded Sheens with another year for doing suite farcall….

Ron or the board?

The board or ron?

six of one, half a doz the other really

At least you don't blame Sheens for signing himself anymore…..

Why would you get a Coach that can't get his own side to win consistantly....It's not his fault it's the players...Please...

No wonder Ron wants him so bad....

like ive said, he wouldnt be my number 1 choice, but it wouldnt be the worst signing and who ever the new coach is, they dont have a lot to live up to

are you kidding me

he could kill this club.

this will be the 3rd consecutive year a ricky stuart coached side will score the least amount of tries in a season.
you really expect to attract crowds and sponsors with that record.

the one thing the tigers do have going for them is that the general public like to watch the wests tigers style.
the money still keeps rolling in even when we fail to reach the finals.

i'm not satisfied with missing finals but i would never take a gamble on stuart simply because of the impact he would have on our financial prospects.
he made a splash with new signings and got rid of kimmorley and turned the sharks into a bigger joke than i thought possible.

i have a genuine fear that we would go back to the days of 02-03
he has a vibe that just doesn't sit right with me

You're so spot on Bon! He'll destroy this club like he has done with Cronulla. The best thing they could do is fire him and he should never be allowed to coach in the NRL again.

ricky isnt a bad coach, he took the roosters to 3 straight grand finals, the sharks in 08 were equal first.

hes got a team full of muppets and has a few tigers hand me downs amongst his ranks, with our roster i think he could do the job, every coach has a lean period, i mean look at our maestro 1 finals appearence in 12 years ricky since he started coaching in 02 i think has only missed the finals twice this year will be his 3rd

he wouldnt be my number 1 choice but he would be in the top 3-4

Are you the mystery board member or just that dregs of a reporter? While you are entitled to your opinion you are seriously delusional if you rate that hate-filled poor loser above anyone that coaches the U/6 's at the local park.

Ricky Stuart may have been a great player but he has destroyed both the clubs he has been at.

HA HA HA!!! Couldn't agree more!

We'll lose players, sponsors and fans if Stuart coaches the team. On the bright side….. we'll get a spoon, pretty good swap I say!

your love for tim is admirable…..who cares if we lose a few players....since 2005 we have only managed 9th place at best...
i agree with you about stuart,,,,but please ... timmys had his fair crack of the whip

I'm not disputing that he's had a fair crack and have stated in other posts that if we don't make the semis this year his position should be re-evaluated. Personally I think we should promote within simply because I think the coaches we have at State Cup and Grant Jones are equally as good as the current coaches who are available. In saying that I wouldn't be totally against Folkes having a shot as well.
