Stupid selections

Today's defence was probably close to the best I have seen by a Tigers team in years and our attack was right up there with the Cowboys game last years…horrible

Granted we were short of two starting back rowers and one prop short for most of the game, but selecting three hookers on the bench in a word madness.

Farah looked old, under done and slow but still gave a 100%. The big backline sweep is now very predictable and easy to defend.

Parra got the bacon but really a nil all draw would have been a fair result

The selections were dodgy but the game plan or rather the inability to plan attacking options is worse,

It was our attack that was terrible. I think Taylor probably has to go as a coach but maybe we need to make a call on our halves as well.

Our attack was in effective today, but so was that of Norman and Foran - other than a dubious try Parra never looked like scoring. People have been banging on about our lapses in defence for years and we narrowly lose a game to an inform side( with plenty of attacking flair) after a strong defensive effort dont think its the game to be calling for players to be sacked. I think everyone needs to calm down a little.
My biggest problem with today's game was that it was ugly from both sides, classic arm wrestle- we never gave up, just didnt get the points.

If we had completed our sets or at least most of them we would have won in a canter, but both teams were as bad as each other in the completion stakes and maybe that is because the defence was so brutal or maybe the hot humid conditions were the cause.

The only thing I am critical of, was the team selections and I will be surprised if he basically rolls the same side out next week with the addition of Lawrence

For those who think our selections are crazy - I saw this posted on FB - can't authenticate any of it but it is a good read.

We have to get serious Buchannon, Lovett and Rankin need to be in reserve grade and we can't select 3 people to play hooker. They are well below first grade standard.

We have the makings of a very good forward pack Woods, Grant, Ava, Aloai, Sue, Lawrence but geez there is a drop off with the rest.

It was a Sheens bench

If the only reason Buchanan is there is because of the cap as TT alluded to then we're better off having him getting splinters in his backside for 80 mins like he was for the first two weeks, as opposed to him being a liability on the field. I was sitting behind the goal posts when we got a penalty on about halfway in the first half and i pumped my fist, then literally one tenth of a second later i saw him run on from the bench i literally took a gulp of fear. And what do you know, 30 seconds later he costs us. I know its probably a bit unfair to single him out when guys like Ava and Sue made errors when we were in try scoring positions, but those 2 guys have a lot of upsides, Jack doesn't, so his mistakes stand out more, as he there is nothing of substance to make up for his mistakes.

If TT is to be believed then not even people within the club want a guy like Jack in the team. I remember TT specifically saying that if Jack plays our chances will diminish.

Silly bench selection and amendment to the team with Halatau at 9 and two specialist hookers on the bench. Inexecusable really.

Buchanan…Everytime I watch him play it seems like he's playing in slow motion, you can see him coming from a mile away in everything he does. Fit yes, tries hard yes, but not a first grader.

I think it's time for Halatu to have a spell. He's 32 and for a backrower, small. For a hooker, slow with ball service. I'd rather see Chee-Kam, Griffin and Edwards in the backrow for the simple fact that one or the other either is quicker, bigger or hits harder in D and offers more in attack.

Lovett is a borderline first grader. Definitely fits and has a go but Aloiai and Chee-Kam look better prospects to me in terms of speed, power and footwork.

So what is the deal with the dumb benches ,is Taylor such a dunder head and non thinker that he uses 3 hookers and a park player?
Is his hands tied by the club in some manner ,he has at his disposal a reserve grade side full of talent that is well coached and winning, maybe Mr Oniel can enlighten all of us with an explanation why the coach is so inept at the selection process as he is the the Football manager and his boss .
Hopefully soon the team sheet on a Tuesday will reflect the direction the club is so desperately pushing ,and we as supporters will read this sheet with confidence that all is being done to make our team a winning formula…Mr Oniel some answers please!

Taylor is looking to get fired if he carries on like this
ie doesn't deliver results

He picks this team and gets a win he gets the praise, he picks the duds and delivers nothing , ah well , hope he is accountable then

TigerTorch strongly alluded to this in his post last week. Would explain why Jack didn't get a run for the first two weeks.

Thought players would be picked on form? Buchanen has done nothing to deserve a bench spot, and Halatau hasn't done anything to get a first grade spot either. Surely we have better options. As for the stupidity that was todays bench, I don't know what he was thinking this week, especially against a massive eels pack. Silly silly silly, not even park football coaches would be dumb enough to do soemthing like he did today

I don't know about this 3 hookers stuff, Hammer is a backup hooker at best. Taylor essentially started with 3 backrowers.

Though I don't disagree, I'd rather see someone like MCK or Edwards get a go, than Buchanan, because we all know what Buchanan can do and it ain't much.

MCK in for Buchanan, JAC in for Rankin. Rowdy comes back next week anyway.

His first touch cost us in a reasonable attacking position and I also vented my fury at him not fulfilling his very simple role, but to be fair, from that point onwards he did his job against a big handy pack.
