Shame this isn't universally applied throughout forum.

I've read dozens of posts calling for a dropping of the Wests name and even reversion to Balmain on this forum......mostly they are allowed to stand, sometimes upvoted , occasionally the poster is gently reminded not to continue.

Double standards on here, but it is what it is.

I can't control what others do but I know I have called out people calling for the return of Balmain, I've had cracks at both Benny and Anthony Field on here and on the podcast.

Agree, but really I don't think interclub rivalry has caused many issues, till the recent Balmain stuff.

If it wasn't for that the process would be completed I'm sure.

And I think the people in question have the clubs best interests at heart, but certainly agree we need to draw from a larger talent pool which is probably what your aiming for.

The behaviour of the Balmain board is just further evidence of the need for the restructure.

I have issues with both sides of the ownership group, I buy a membership to attend games in the same seats I have sat in for 25 years. I get what I pay for.

And this is the problem......as majority ownership reluctantly fell on Wests it almost became their fault.

Wests went out of their way to be non threatening/inclusive and came up with the HBG and then they got the recent treachery.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe Keith Barnes was part of the Balmain delegation that voted for the Magpies exclusion in the 80s.......but still no grudges from the Wests group and then the recent stuff.

Because wests were a basket case , and a blight on the game with the way the club approached it .
Not long after that the competition did a good job of wiping out the thuggery of the 70s , of which wests were a major driving force .
That’s such revisionist history .
The league spent the whole 80s trying to make the product more entertaining and move away from thuggery of the 70s . And did a pretty good job of it. .
Also the complexities of wests and its geography , which still exists to this day re. Wests Ashfield , was a major driving force behind the push .
Really they should have gone with Newtown .
Nobody could have foreseen the huge influx of migrant communities namely Asian communities and the love of the pokies . It’s more good fortune than anything else that wests Ashfield have become a thriving business .
And now once again out of pure luck , as wests moved to Ctown was not exactly a happy move , wests now find themselves in control of the biggest junior nursery in the world .

Don’t get me wrong as a wests tigers supporter I’m glad these accidents happened , but man don’t pretend that the league wasn’t 💯 justified in its decision to punt the club in the 80s.
But like cockroaches Rugby league clubs have a real knack for survival .
Look at the bears , about to rise from the dead like the Undertaker .

In the 70s I wasn’t born yet . I just find the history of the game and its evolution from thug town to a product that had Tina turner doing songs whilst dudes baby oil did beach sprints , pretty interesting .
Than obviously SL happens and yea. .
Listen to the rugby league digest SL podcast . It’s one of the best things I’ve ever listened to . And it really begins in the 1980s . It’s weeks of your life , but well worth it .

wtf are you talking about man ? Lol I’d much rather trust someone who spent half thier adult life researching than you my guy . Plus I’ve read countless books about it , interviews etc , and it was only slightly before my time , as I have fond memories of Campbelltown sports ground in the 80s . Granted the very back end of it , and I was there to support the away team.
I think most would find it very educational .

My point was around wests being kicked out in the 80s being some nswrl conspiracy . It wasn’t ! Wests were a basket case , and honestly deserved to be kicked out more than Newtown . That’s just reality . That’s not to say the wests today is anything like that club in 1980 . Just that’s the facts

Not on topic however Justice Helsham didn't believe Wests deserved to be kicked out and Wests recieved an injuction from the NSW Equity court.

They couldn’t lawfully do it . Doesn’t make it not true ….
Just for transparency… if Balmain hadn’t tightened thier shit up towards the back end of 90s just enough , they also should have been booted with the failed Sydney tigers and purple stripe of the mid 90s . And the sex pest being picked from the clouds as our coach .
I know my history , and I also know that both clubs have a past of being run by morons , good intentioned morons , but still morons !
And now we have infected this new club with this moronic subculture .
