Taking a wrecking ball to the club! (Recent Media Reports)

Very successful? More misinformation. WT made the finals 3 times in those 7 seasons.

All my mates follow Parra, because they were THE successful team, with superstars. Life for them has been abysmal since 1986. Other fans followed Newtown and become Broncos fans.

I wanted to follow the Bulldogs, but I had to support Western Suburbs as a kid. My pa said I had to because we lived in Croydon and Wests were the local team. Then those arseholes moved out to Orana Park and Canterbury did end up my local team. But by then, I had all the gear and no idea.

Apart from a couple of Warren Ryan years, it was shit! And it’s been shit ever since as a Wests Tigers fan (apart from a flukey 3 month run in 2025).

If he had let me follow the Bulldogs like I wanted to, I would’ve been a far happier fan with more premierships, more finals, and the same club. And as it happens, Olympic Park is easier to get to for home games.

I blame those cronies at Ashfield for every misstep along the way, because they’ve been the constant in my football clubs relocations, mergers and failures.
LOL I sort of get where you’re coming from ? This is tongue in cheek right ?
But what does Ashfield have to do with the late 80s early 90s tigers ?
Outside of some borderline child abuse, forcing your kids to go for wests or Balmain .

Buzz with another article about the tigers (Boardroom).

Does anyone know how many Tigers articles there have been compared to other teams since the Grand final. For sure this team would be ahead by a mile.

What does the article say ?
Just a rehash

Saint, Sinner, Shoosh: Board dispute between Wests Tigers owners Holman Barnes Group continues

The dispute between the two warring factions of the Wests Tigers owners shows no signs of letting up, while Laurie Daley and Billy Slater have avoided an awkward encounter. That and more in Saint, Sinner, Shoosh.

The dispute between the two warring factions of the owners of the Wests Tigers shows no signs of letting up with one of the vanquished trio hitting back at his former fellow board members.
The Holman Barnes Group (HBG) put out a three-page statement detailing the reasons why board members Rick Wayde was banned for eight years, Tony Andreacchio (six) and David Gilbert (six months). That followed a heavy handed 15-point statement which used the word “FACT” at the start of each point.

The dispute between the board members of Wests Tigers owners, the Holman Barnes Group, continues.
“The only real facts to bear in mind, despite the welter of misleading information in the recent unsigned releases from HBG, is that the Holman Barnes licensed clubs are indeed doing remarkably well,” Wayde said.

“Why? Because across the preceding decade Directors such as Tony Andreacchio, John Hardgrove, the late Mike Bailey and his replacement Dave Gilbert, and myself, put in the hard yards to establish stability at board level for the CEO to develop his management team and effectively implement board initiatives.”

Two of the three banned board members, Tony Andreacchio (back) and Rick Wayde (front).

“The fact is that the unconstitutional act of the ‘Gang of Four’ directors is designed to eliminate Dave Gilbert from the debentures election and to leave the 27,000 HBG members without any representation at board level.

“Darcy Byrne, Mayor of Inner West Council, got it right when he called for “government intervention” to ensure that one of the community’s greatest assets re-establishes stability and resumes its proper course.”

The trio are continuing to explore their legal options.

How many articles of other clubs do you keep track of?

I don't. Just noticed 3 in the first 6 articles on FOX Sports and Daily telegraph are about the Tigers.

I dislike them honestly unless it is about new recruits.

Remember the good ol times of Brooks or someone else talking up the improvement they have done over the off season? Action speaks louder than words.

Easy fixed! Don't read it!

Generates clicks I guess.

I think that’s too reductive. HBG will still be the owners and therefore will have oversight of Weststigers. The debenture system of board control at HBG needs to be addressed to rid the club of the unrepresentative nepo babies.
Once we get our independant board members it will add extra voices and votes in the boardroom massively diluting HBG influence, their job will just to report back to HBG what the Tigers are up to and where the board want the club headed without having any boardroom power. Provided the new independant directors are totally independant and not HBG stooges in disguise.

Agreed, from a macro perspective though, if the debenture system doesn’t change, Weststigers will always remain beholden to a very insular and unaccountable cabal.

Yeah 100 percent, if not that but will constantly be associated with the garbage game of thrones boardroom drama and politics at the very least

Not our problem once we get our independant directors. They can kill eachother for all I care, just leave Wests Tigers alone.
I actually think that helped Sheens a lot in his first coaching run.

It was Balmain vs Wests. No one on the board cared about football.

You could tell there was a lot of fighting. It was all "hey why does the Balmain directors get 5 cookies and we only get 4 on our plates at board meetings". The infighting was all at Board level and Sheens was able to keep the players away from it, which is what you want.

Hearing Woodsey, he expressed that as club Captain he was getting dragged into the Taylor vs Everyone wars and being Woodsey, he was WAY out of his league.

TLDR all I hope is that there is a massive board war and they argue on the shade of Orange used by the club, who sits in the corporate Boxes and the usual nonsense a board talks about. Leave Richo and Benji alone! *

*Till we have to fire Benji. This is a crunch season for us and if Benji doesn't perform or gets into arguments with Luai, we have to get rid of him asap. It's harsh, but I expect us to be close to middle comp, nearing the top 8 this season.
