Tallis destroys Blair...

players should be paid according to there stats on a weekly basis , it's funny how some players have a ripper of a season when they are coming of contract

Not sure what you expected Potter to say, Royce. Of course he will defend his players in the public forum - as he should. Behind closed doors is where he should be letting all concerned know exactly how he feels and what he expects. Let's hope Adam responds accordingly. (I'm not overly optimistic, however).

As Potter was new to this team whilst Royce has been around WT for years is it possible that Potter has and continues to depended upon Royce for advice on team selection, defence coaching and attacking plays?

ease up there gordy, the last thing i want is blair making 20 noneffective hitups.

was over rated when we signed him.
didn't isolate his performance to that of the team when at the storm.

i edited every tackle and hitup and decoy run.it was obvious he was exactly what we didn't need.

the only time he puts in 100% effort is to hit a halfback who has his back turned and just distributed the ball.
can't stand people like him.

Blair hasnt been the same since that blue with Stewart from Manly and the subsequent suspension !

this is so true.
maybe he is concerned that if he plays his natural aggressive game he will be spending more time suspended than actually being of being any help to wests-tigers.

also time to stop hitting players late, when they do not have to ball :unamused:

GORDEN Tallis has taken aim at Adam Blair, accusing the Wests Tigers forward of being an overpaid player who is not putting in.
In an extraordinary attack on Triple M following the Tigers' capitulation to the Sharks, Tallis blasted the Kiwi international by claiming he was being outplayed by players on half his wage.

Tallis said it was time for Blair to deliver on a promise he made to perform for the Tigers when he joined from the Melbourne Storm last season on a deal reportedly worth $600,000 a year.

"Adam Blair has won grand finals, he has played internationals and he has won a World Cup," Tallis said.

"I read an article where he was going to the Wests Tigers with him saying he was like a caged lion (at Melbourne) and that he could start playing football now.

"He sat on the left-hand edge outside Benji (during the Sharks game). He is big, he is strong, he has great footwork and an offload. He needs to get in the middle and give us something.

"He is one of the highest paid Wests Tigers players. He has asked for that money and if you are prepared to take that money, put out your hand and watch your bank account grow every week, you have to be prepared to put your body on the line."

Tallis said the big-money recruit was being outplayed by lesser lights such as Eddy Pettybourne. The former Queensland Origin star said he would have been able to dismiss the performance if it was a one-off, but he suggested it was an all too frequent display from Blair.

"If he went in there and had 15 hit-ups … like Pettybourne did, it would be OK," Tallis said. "You would know he was having a dig. Somedays you go to the office and you do your job better than others. It is the same with footy. Some days you go out there and try really hard and you don't make a break and you miss tackles.

"But he isn't putting in the effort that some of the teammates around him, on half his money, are."

Tallis continued his attack on Blair during an interview with Tigers coach Mick Potter moments after the match.

"I feel a bit sorry for you because some of your bigger names (didn't perform)," Tallis said.

"Especially Adam Blair. For a guy that has played at the highest level, he should be in there having 20 hit-ups.

"Aaron Woods is having 20 hit-ups and some of the other guys are being aggressive, but I actually feel sorry for some coaches because some players won't have a go."

Potter defended Blair.

"I think you are being a bit hard on Adam," Potter said.

"Adam played 80 and contributed as much as he could. The reason we lost is that we weren't catching kicks. The reason we lost is defensively they were allowed too many metres. We would defend a couple of plays and then they would roll us down the field."

Tallis is way off the mark. The time hasnt come for Blair to aim up it passed half way through last season. A massive waste of salery cap.

Some would get an Invoice!

Good on him Gordie. Always honest and to the point. I hope Blair respects Gordie big time and takes this to heart because I don't know what else to do to fire him up. Letting him move elsewhere isn't the best alternative for the club. We've got a great player just playing average football. I would rather give him the chance to prove his worth to the club and respond to Gordie in that fashion.

That's right and Blair's contract isn't up for two and a bit years…no reason to play better he still gets paid and he still gets picked in the team each week so why should he....Life doesn't get any better than that.

I think this is the case. I don't think he has regressed or coaching is the problem or any other reason. He simply isn't a gun player.

He is a decent role player. He has a good play the ball, he can hit it up in tight or out wide and his defence is pretty good so long as he doesn't have to do too much work. He is basically a slightly above average first grader.

I was about to write some sarcastic #^%$ but decided not to waste the energy. I've been over Blair from day 1\. I'm still bewildered as to the why drop Fifita for Blair. Good on Gordon Tallis but I'm not going to hold my breath hoping it makes a difference.

Tallis must be pissed. He used to run through brick walls and crap nails and probably earned 20% of what Blair earns.

There are too many tv personalities that ask mundanely boring questions and are afraid to ruffle a few feathers or criticize when it's due. Props to Tallis for this much needed barrage. Now that he's broken the ice I expect more criticism to start coming Blairs way from lemming journos.

Adam Blair has been the biggest signing disappointment in the 13 years Wests Tigers have been around. Maybe, as written above, he was well over-rated before he got here.
