Tallyn Da Silva #270

If TDS is developing, then a definite yes.

2027 TDS will be starting to hit his straps whilst API is going the other way. Sorry API, great player for us but time to go.

And then we have the next five years to enjoy TDS, the future is TDS not Api

The older API gets, the more minutes TDS gets, until he is eventually an 80min first grader... Right now from all reports he struggles to play 80 in KOE.

They've thrown the toys out of the cot in this by being so direct "if API resigns Tallyn leaves"...

I guarantee he doesn't go to another club next year and be their first choice hooker.

By 2027 TDS will basically be taking over from API and be making the claim as the Primary hooker. API might still have a contract but it doesn't make him #1 hooker for us.. you transition players in and out.. that's the smart way to do it.. not just give up on 2026 and blood Tallyn cause he demands to be our starting hooker

Yeah I agree, next year Api is the number one hooker and TDS should recognise that.

In 2027 TDS is the number one hooker. And Api understands this and his wage reflects this, then all good.

I just don't want Api demanding a massive upgrade because of his current status.

I don’t necessarily think we should tell Api to pack his bags after 26. Just that that’s when TDS will become the starter. Api still will have value coming off the bench for 25-30 mins. If he gets a better offer elsewhere, no hard feelings.

In ‘27 Api would be ideal off the bench as a hooker/lock utility - relieve TDS for 10-15 mins and also jump into the middle rotation like Kurt Mann does at the Dogs.

Imagine an attacking spine of Bula-Latu-Jarome-TDS with Api!

we looked so much better when TDS was coming on to finish the half and giving api 10-20 breather. We needed a spark last night and we had Naden on the bench. If Latu is fit next game then hopefully it’s TDS or Mason on the bench.

Api and TDS are both signed up until 2026. Api at most will get a 2 year NRL contract taking him to 35, or he will go to Super League for a 3-4 year contract to stretch out a career of being paid to play a ball game before he has to get a job in the real world. Hard decision. Id take the 4 year contract in SL.

In an ideal Tigers fan world Api plays main hooker 26 and plays back up/benchy to TDS in 27/28. But that sounds completely reasonable so it wont happen.

Api with 250-300 game experience/smarts with spurts of 10-15mins at hooker/halves here and there would be devastating injected off the bench in 27/28.

TDS/Latu/Jerry/Bula with Api is the spine we need, you know it, I know it, Blind Freddy knows it. Does Richo know it?

Yeah I agree but last night was an anomaly with 2 X sin bins... Any teams middles are going to be gassed when playing with 12 men

Like it Winston but does TDS, don't know if it's his manager that's impatient or him, is it ultimatum time.

We need a clear succession plan that all buy in to.
Api is still best 9 in NSW so cant throw that away...but by 2027 TDS shld be lead man at 9 if hes gonna make it
Id certainly retain Api for 27 on a slitely smaller $$...weve wasted $$ on much lesser players

Adel suggested this in the WTL podcast this morning too, except start to do it this season. Play Api a bit at lock & bring TDS back into the 17.

I don’t mind that idea. Api needs to work on his defence though. He is an obvious target.
Whatever it takes to keep TDS should be done. Just letting him go is poor management.

We haven't got enough leaders to let Api go. He's more than just a player in a position to the team.

I hope that Richo can work out a transition plan that works for both Api and TDS. They seem to have mutual respect for each other and I'd say there will be some give and take on both sides.

Yes he does but his missed tackles stats are misleading. Often he leads the line speed, cuts down his opponent below the hip and falls off the attacker with his team mates completing the tackle of the attacker already on the ground.
