Tallyn Da Silva #270

The club saw Latu as better than Galvin, which is why we offered Galvin $6 million over 5 years? Come on.

Tucker is 100% spot on here sadly. The narrative only changed after the fact.

It's also plainly obvious that the dominant culture in the team is now a poly heavy culture lead by Luai, May, Turuva etc along with the fact we have the only islander coach in the league.

Galvin clearly didn't fit in and even before the bullying saga, I doubt he was made to feel welcome. It could've been Galvin's ego, could've been Luai's influence, who knows.

Da Silva's might not be as bad a fit from a personality perspective, but after having seen what happened to Galvin along with Koroisau being potentially extended, he doesn't want stick around unless he has a first grade gig guaranteed. Totally understandable.

Comparing playing for a junior footy team to a professional first grade team in 2025 isn't apt. As a junior you play on the weekend and train maybe once or twice a week during the week. As a professional, you're with these guys for 60+ hours a week in the season, from training, to matchday, to functions and sponsorship engagements, to travel. You have to get along with and be accepted by a large number of the squad at first grade level.

We've seen time and time again that talented teams can fall apart when there's something amiss off the field, whereas a team that isn't as talented that plays as a team and is in sync on and off the field overperforms.
It did though ! Galvin was about to lose his starting spot . He had been told it … I don’t care what you believe .
Whether it was gamesmanship I dunno . I personally think Richo got wind of the Canterbury poaching , and offered an exorbitant contract to flush out Moses and Gould . I said it at the time .
I think the club was team Galvin ,until Richo had confirmation Galvin had been playing the club .
I know for a fact Richo was told in January by many people with links in the inner west , that the bulldogs had done this . Exactly this. Only they were planning on screwing the tigers over in the offseason or ruining season 2026 .
So if you want to side with a dude with zero knowledge in Townsville …. Cool bro .. go for it . But I’m almost certain the contract offer being so large was Botha last ditch play where you’re offering 130cents on the dollar , as well as an offer too good to refuse … unless you’ve made your own underhanded deal elsewhere .
The club should have let Richo sue the bulldogs and the nrl and Moses . And you know how much of a grub Moses is , to be fair to him , he had Galvin or his dad formulating a dossier to use day in day out sports team practices , as a timeline to build a bullying package .
It’s easy to do . You or I could do it right now . Every negative interaction you can write in your diary in the worst way possible , then in 6 months you’ve got 6 months worth of events that no one can dispute , because no one else saw it was anything worth it .
It doesn’t happen more often because generally most people adhere to the social contract of what is , and isn’t acceptable . Even in today’s blurry lines around this .

So xxxz is a sensationalist who drives content on here by always taking the most negative approach to every situation to stir up all the more emotional , members of the forum . He’s manipulating you . Watch he’s started abusing everyone again in his posts . Something will happen , there will be a big blow up , and he will be everyone’s friend . The guy is a rat … I wouldn’t listen to a word he says even if it does have sense in it .

Because that’s what narcissists and people like that do . They have opinions that are based in truth , so that people don’t realise they’re being manipulated , until they’re out the front of concord with a pitch fork , and that grub is laughing at how stupid everyone is from ivory tower in Townsville .
I’m still surprised anyone interacts with him

thank god the club shot itself in the foot with that one, latu is the more skillful player and if we had kept LG we would’ve lost latu, sione and samuela. one dumb decision by the club might’ve actually saved us
...or we could have used management techniques to keep them all and make it work.
That wasnt a him or me situation.
Have you actually noticed how big Galvin is? He is 6ft 4in and approaching 90kgs. There is no reason he couldnt have played the centre role Doueihi has played for us this year. He could have played the ball playing lock role. Eventually when he filled out he could have been a star backrower.
Weve lost his services as a footballer, not as a halve.

I cant believe the outrage here regarding the possible loss of a WT junior. Forum members tend to refer to players as cattle to be bought and sold by the various abattoirs.
Oh woe is me, WT management are doing it again, selling one of my favourite young bulls and keeping one that is walking burger mince.
My thinking is that Marshall has to walk the tightrope of doing what is best for the team going forward, doing what is best for each of two (human) players with individual needs and desires. Marshall comes across as a coach that values the players as individuals while at the same time having on field performance as his primary KPI. He wont be taking this decision lightly.

you’re delusional if u think Galvin was willing to play anywhere but 5/8. That’s literally the whole point.

Sorry, but claiming the club rated Latu higher than Galvin is complete fiction. Revisionist history. Who was the one Richo constantly salivated over and talked up as the future of the club? Whose family was he trying to butter up? Who was his golden boy? It wasn’t Latu. I’m sure the club is very happy with Latu atm and will put whatever eggs left over from Api’s basket into Latu’s. But they would have sacrificed him in a minute if it meant Galvin would play his entire career here.
100% and the funny thing is that guy you are talking to would froth at the mouth and stamp its feet and scream like a banshee everytime someone mentioned that Latu was the better halves prospect. He wasnt alone either. The majority who are now saying Latu is better, did the same.
Including the club.

If you really think this about Marshal than you have not been paying attention at all LOL.
He has done whats best for him, to save his job and the team is going to end up saddled with a busted Api in his mid 30's for 27 and 28 especially, whilst they scramble to bring a kid up to speed who is at least 3 years behind the guy we are about to let walk.

Galvin and DaSilva for different reasons did not want to be at WTs. The club made tough decisions and I'm sure it preferred not to be in this position. I am glad these decisions were made and hopefully Da Silva's manager is working to return the favour to WTs.

To be fair, in regards to Galvin,
There's a long list of players who back themselves as a half because that's where they came through... They're young and brash and often takes a bit of Humbling before they relent the coaches are right and they should change positions. I would bet, If you asked Doueihi to his face - He'll tell you with 110% earnestly that he sees his future as a 6. I think that's what cost us Galvin more than anything, he see's himself as a half, and someone sold him a future that facilitates that. We could have done the same, But we're not that clever... Tell them what they need to hear to commit, then massage them in the direction you need them...

TDS is very different, That deal was there to be done - His path was clear for him...
We just didn't sell it - Or didn't care to, Which I think is a mistake!!
There's not many clubs kicking around with a back up 9 of that calibre getting around,
I have no doubt we'll end up in a hole around Api before the end of his current contract,
Without even considering his next one we're losing TDS over.

At some point,
I'm wondering how much of all this is being let go by the wayside to give the higher ups an excuse for our lack of results...
We didn't make the 8 this year because we lost our 2 best Juniors,
Much like how Sheens still claims Tedescos ACL cost him his job in 2012.

Once they have their head set, Very hard to change the way of thinking...
Bit over Richo selling us Reserve Grade Nuffies his family is tied to the management of,
You can role a turd in glitter - It's still a turd.

Getting tired of the narrative that the brothers are tied at the hip and that’s treated like a good thing. The last thing this club needs is a new generation of a boys club.

Bit late for that.
Funny the older Fainu was here for a couple years before the other 2.
And all 3 were a non event here.

Now we're worried of a mass exodus of Fainus if they're all not in the 17 and we don't give the
1 still in jail a job 😂😂

TDS gave us an ultimatum - API or me. We choose API which I agree with. So no dramas there. What I don’t get is why are we letting him just go so easy. If he goes after tonight and we don’t get anything in return then we are dumb.
What happens if API gets injured next week? What happens if he doesn’t re-sign?
I have agreed with most of Richos calls to date but can’t understand this one
