‘That’s on us’: Skipper Tamou says Tigers fans not to blame for half-time booing

Wests Tigers captain James Tamou says he doesn’t blame fans for booing the side during Sunday’s clash against the Cowboys after supporters turned out in droves at Leichhardt Oval to pay their respects to Tommy Raudonikis.
Tigers fans turned on the team at half-time, booing the players as they went into the sheds down 28-6. The Tigers almost completed a fairytale comeback after the break but eventually fell 30-34.
After the game, Tamou told the Herald while the booing was tough to take, fans were within their rights to do so.
“It happens, I’ve copped it at Penrith,” Tamou said.
“Yeah it doesn’t feel very nice, but that’s on us. We can’t blame anyone but ourselves. We’ve dug ourselves into this hole and no one else can get us out.”
Tamou also revealed the team received a spray both at half-time and post-match from their head coach. Yet Michael Maguire has spared his stars the axe this week before their round six clash against the Rabbitohs on Saturday.
Following the loss to the Cowboys, Luke Brooks’ future looked uncertain as the Tigers continue to struggle to get the best out of the No.7.
But only Jacob Liddle was dropped from last week’s squad with debutant Jake Simpkin named as hooker in his first NRL game. Asu Kepaoa will also return to the side to replace Joey Leilua after sustaining a concussion on Sunday.
