COWBOYS and Blues enforcer James Tamou looks set to leave the Cowboys as he seeks a move back to Sydney.
The 26-year-old, who has spent the past seven years with the Townsville-based club, is off contract at season’s end and has reportedly attracted the attention of a number of Sydney clubs.
The embattled Dragons, who have a number of forwards off contract players at the end of 2015, are desperate to add size up front and view Tamou as the perfect target.
The prospect of pairing Tamou with former Warrior Russell Packer is a mouthwatering one for Red V fans.
But before Packer can be registered he must be given the all-clear from the NRL, who met with the prop and Dragons officials for the first time last week.
The **Tigers** and the **Sharks** have also reportedly expressed interest in Tamou, who is keen to move his young family back to Sydney.
The multi-million dollar deals offered to hulking forward Jason Taumalolo and Johnathan Thurston, along with the re-signing of Michael Morgan and acquisition of Ben Hannant suggests much of the club’s money is tied up over the next few years.
Tamou has started only one of the first three games but at 26, is confident his best footy is still in front of him after recovering from a career-threatening neck injury.
