Hadn't seen this anywhere else yet but this is very promising news. A giant forward that runs hard and can offload. Interesting that he's straight into the top 25 already though.

JJ and Paseka to be charging forwards in the NRL next season. Wonder where this puts players like Graham and Grant. Waiting for Tatola to re-sign too. He's holding off for now. With Paseka re-signing i wonder if he thinks his opprtunties will be limited?

TIGERS 20s MONSTER RE-SIGNS
>
Wests Tigers may be struggling on the field but they’ve just snared a massive victory off it with giant Holden Cup forward Taniela Paseka re-signing with the club for another two seasons.
>
Weighing in at 119 kilos, Paseka is in just his first season in NYC after playing for the Wests SG Ball side last year.
>
While the rugby league community anxiously awaits to find out which country North Queensland young gun Kalyn Ponga will pledge his allegiance to, Australia has received an early victory for the future.
>
Paseka rejected an approach from the junior Kiwis earlier this year in hopes of one day playing for Australia and NSW in Origin.
>
The 18-year-old spent the pre-season training with the first grade squad but his new deal will see him join the club’s top 25 next year.
>
The monster prop is one of the biggest men in the game. Despite being listed at 197cm on the club website, Paseka stands at 200cm and is still growing.
>
To put his size into perspective, basketball star Kobe Bryant is 198cm and LeBron James stands 203cm.
>
Tigers coach Jason Taylor announced the news of Paseka’s new deal in front of the playing group at training over the weekend.

Lets hope taylor is gone by 2017 or he will coach the ability out of this bloke has like he has done with everyone else.

Fingers crossed that he realises his potential as we currently have enough players with "potential" playing in our team that are not delivering.

i always worry about guys his size. generally theyve had it so easy their whole juniors that when they get to this level they struggle. the thing i like about him is that he runs bloody hard, there isnt any tony williams about him. the run and offload for papenhuyzens try on sunday was real top shelf, especially considering it was the second hit up from the kic off.

That's sometimes true, but the size is a better starting point than having little blokes who try hard but never get big enough (normal Tigers strategy).

i was gonna come in here telling you not to start labeling players like that "taniela the tank II'

realised his name is actually taniela

sounds great - fair few hyped players to come through though like liolevave, seve and fiagatusa who haven't really kicked on as yet. obviously still early days whether they'll do well (at the tigers or not)

It's true, all you need to be successful in the lower grades is size or speed, so those players can stand out on those facets alone. To make it at a higher level you need a greater all around skill level.

I haven't seen a lot of him but he is probably the biggest player we've ever had at the Tigers in any grade. The fact he hadn't even played NYC yet but was training with the NRL squad in the off-season as a 17 year old suggests he's held in very high esteem by the club.

From what i have seen, he's not only big but he actually runs hard. Not like a BMM who meanders around, but a big guy who powers into the opposition which bodes well. His line breaks come up the middle too, not targeting little guys or isolated players.

I'd recommend everyone who has Foxtel and can't make the game this weekend watch or record the NYC game to see how he, and our other prospects go. 1030am kickoff on FS1.

Tigers signed a young and upcoming star on a short deal 2 years and will lose him once he becomes good.

My prediction: will play well in u20s, will shine at the start of his nrl career then whichever numbnut is our coach will coach all his ability out of him.

to show more positivity, well done on the lad for earning a new contract!

Great news. Paseka has been steadily improving as the season has progressed and I'm really looking forward to seeing his development come along over the next couple of years. Another off-season with the top squad will do his strength and fitness wonders and next season would also be a good opportunity to start using him selectively in State Cup games. If he improves enough a FG debut wouldn't surprise, but he's definitely promising.

Tuned in to NYC to see him run around, looks like King Kong swatting away helicopters… But he went off with a knee injury.

Anyone know if he's alright? Bit early to call it but he could be something
