I agree with these comments. I don't think we are in that bad a situation and we need to overhaul our roster. I do think we have to see how Brooks, Moses, Sironen develop over the course of this year but I'm hopeful they will start to kick on.

I don't think the squad itself is THAT bad.

The success of this team won't be as a result of high profile signings. It'll be the retention & development of Tedesco, Moses, Brooks & Cherrington. You get those guys under contract, then focus on the forwards that have to stay- Woods & Sue for example, and build out from there.

It's easy to paint the whole club as 'hopeless' due to results.

But you can count on your hand the amount of teams that 'buy' premierships these days. It's all built through the quality of the juniors, their retention, and a couple of well thought out tinkering signings.

Of the listed players I've seen in here, the only one I see & think "oh, yeah- he'd be a long term upgrade on what we have" is Mansour because we don't have that big winger that can get quality hit ups in our own territory. If a really good center becomes available- maybe. But I think they are less important than wingers now.

And I, personally, think the forward pack is coming together nicely.

I think with the changes at the top and the changes to the coaching and conditioning team and the bigger effort to develop our juniors, Wests Tigers have at last a development plan, which will lead to a big improvement over the next few years.
 
If we can keep the cattle we want and maybe add one big signing the future looks good,but as we know things can go pear shape very quickly. The first six weeks of 2016 are so important,they could define the next five years,a bad start and we are back to square one or beyond,a great start and this roster could suprise

Manly have another good young Centre called Jesse Ramien. He is only 19\. He will be Manlys next choice behind Matai & Lyon. They are sending him to the 9's.
Ramien played in the NYC Grand Final last year. He has good speed and is solidly built. Last year he scored 13 tries from 25 games. He is seen as a future NRL player. WTs should check him out now Seve is gone.
 
Id like to see Craig Bellamy lured to WT a as the General Manager of football for 2017\. He has said he wont coach anywhere else and his contract finishes this year at the storm doesnt it?

Then we can look at playing staff.

Manly do seem well stocked for centres, I mean Walker is no 5/8th as Manly will find out, Souths tried him there and he sucked, so a few centres at Manly might want out.
 
Saw Tony Satini from Manly play a few NSW Cup games last year…
He looks good too, real similair style to Simona.
Could be a future gun centre.... Defo under-rated and worth a look
 
I think that there is a possibility of picking up a couple of cowboys players. They have a lot of players coming off contract and some gun youngsters coming through. Will not be able to keep them all.
 
If ditto fails us again this year boot him as for our halfs well the ball is in there camp now perform or perish at another club, this Charlie grubb bloke everyone is chatting about sounds good but he is young we need to buy expierence in the pack and we need a tough centre then we will have a chance at the semis until then it's gunna be a tough year but we will survive

I think internally we have enough talent coming through to have a decent back row.

The place we are short is at Centre. We are at least 1 centre short and dont have anyone IMO that is definitely going to be a first grader.

Comp wide in recent years there has been a bit of a down period for centres.

Penrith have excess, they have declared their intent (at least internally) to invest heavily in Robert Jennings, which makes sense, he looks the real deal. I believe Brent Naden would be in the NRL squad at every other club, and he would be be a nice bargain buy and looks a first grader IMO, Waqa Blake is also outside the top side even after an injury or 2, he could be handy at the bargain level.

Looking at what Penrith have coming through Im not sure what they are going to do with them all….heaps of blokes look to be at NRL level in the next year or so or there abouts, they cant pick them all.

Ideally we would want a first choice centre if one came available for some reason.

Agree Goose. I reckon we should have a crack at Mansour (I rekcon he might be a top centre). Him and Simona would put us in good stead.

Hopefully he was a fan of Pascoe and a good mate of TGrant.
 
How about Boyd Cordner. Apparently the roosters are going to tell him to leave and are not going to renew his contract from 2017 onwards.
 
Origin level players won't sign with us.

I'll pass on all three myself. Especially the last one. I am still glad we let him go.
 
As mentioned before, we do have more promising backrowers in the lower grades coming through, than have centres.
Might be were looking at an older experienced backrower, someone to lead by example. Someone like Beau Scott would have been a good buy or a Thaiday type, with not many years left and a club trying to offload him.
With the Centre position, I'd do the opposite. Look for a proven 1st grader that's a future rep.
 
The club has invested heavily on Moses and Brooks. The investment wasn't for their tackling prowess. We need backrowers who can be relied on to take the tackling onus off these two attacking aces.

THE Roosters have received a huge boost ahead of the 2016 NRL season with the re-signing of Boyd Cordner.

The star back-rower has signed a two-year deal until the end of 2018.
