Yes he makes his tackles (most of them) and makes 10 or so meters a run (wow).
We want players to hurt the opposition in tackles and to burst through the defensive line (Taupau). As for having Galloway on the bench , he's in the same boat as lawrence IMO ( over paid and under performs) , but we can't afford to have them play in NSW cup .

Anyways lets see how they go at the start of the year .

As I said if we are giving Rowdy the benefit of grave doubt , we need to do the same for Keefy

If the club have cured his foot and turf toe issues and he can finally get some drive from that foot he will be a completely different beast in 2015

That's why I said " anyways lets see how they go "

I said it first Hobbo

I wish Taupau could use you blokes as tackling bags…..

Gotta love his aggression. I hope that players and coaches go through goals and aspirations. Hope Taylor is aware that Marty wants a starting spot.

He's a keeper. Thought he'd fade out in a year but all his efforts have been whole hearted. A good signing by us for a change.

One on one I would still make Taupau hit fresh air Geo

A lot of people said last year Marty is an out and out prop…I dont believe so,he has enough skills to at least try him out wide as a ball running back rower..

Having said that,he has also shown how accomplished he can be off the bench and inject himself into the game..and in my opinion he deserves a starting shot straight up,if he doesnt live up to expectations, then put him back on the bench..I think Marty will surprise quite a few people this year with his versatility...this is just my opinion and I wish Marty all the best for a successful year,as well as the other players...

I've been saying Taupau should play lock for ages ! Kill two birds with one stone. Marty gets his starting gig and we may find a solution to our backrow issues.

8\. Woods
9\. Farah
10\. Galloway
11\. Sironen
12\. Sue
13\. Taupau

14\. Ava
15\. Lodge
16\. Liolevavae
17\. Santi

I think this is a much more balanced forward pack, as opposed to having both Santi and Halatau in the same side.

Love big marty !

Galloway….you said it yourserlf hobbo - a plodder, yes great lets have plodders on the bench

Hes no plodder, he makes his tackles and his 10m per run... he keeps it tight for when blokes like taupau can come on and work off the platform thats been set already by our plodders.

Im glad marty is hungry, he wants to improve...and I dont see a bench spot as anything less than a 1-13 spot....its a 17 man game

JC says "bench Marty" all you need to do is nod and get on with it big fella !

To be included in the 17 should be enough and the comments should be more like " Very happy with my pre season form, the work put in over the offie has me confident of gaining a starting position this season no doubt about it". JC loves that drivel so humour him and get on with it.

You're happy Marty with the prospect of being part of that 17\. :brick:

I don't know why some feel the need that we need to persevere with under performing players in 1st Grade . Why ? If Taupau is a better option as a starting Prop than Keithy so be it .
IMO Taupau is the one in form at the moment and it's up to Keithy to play himself back into a starting Prop if his form warrants it , I would even have Lodge in front of Keithy call me :crazy but Keithy has done bugger all for a few years . Players get into a comfort zone in 1st Grade when they have been playing NRL for many years and feel they have a divine right to be starting every week .
Not meaning to bring Lawrence into this Thread but same goes for him , if there is a Centre who is in form why can't we drop Lawrence to N.S.W Cup and let him earn his spot again ? I suppose with all the injuries we have had they might have been let of the hook .

But of course it would be foolish to entertain such a thought of players who are used to being in 1st Grade not being being picked , it just wouldn't look right when it's published on the Papers .

Why is there a problem to have goals as a professional and wanting to be a Starter and not wanting to be a bench player?
I know what i would rather.

I love Keefy. If he is fully fit he is our starting prop. He will have a big one this year, suspect he is one of the players who has been playing at less than 100%.

The thing i worry about with Taupau moving to lock with Sirro and Sue as backrowers…..who is going to make 40+ tackles? I dont know the stats but i would be surprised if this backrow averages more than 20 tackles per game per player....not enough.

have to agree with Marty. He's definately faster than a snail. What exactly does Big Keifi offer.

As I keep saying there are probable a couple of guys on huge back ended contracts thanks to Sheens and his mates …it becomes a problem when you have guys on 600k running around in the reggies ...so regardless of how they perform what do you do ,it will be interesting over the next couple of months.

Ink i respect your thoughts immensely and think you have a far greater knowledge of the game than me.
But can i say that i disagree and agree with you at the same time .
I don't feel Keithy offers the impact he did 3 to 4 years ago , i understand he's had a horrible time with injuries but he just doesn't take the ball up with venom like he once did , there is no Mongrel anymore just going through the motions .
Not saying he doesn't try out there on the field, but players just can't keep thinking they earn a right to play 1st Grade on years gone bye performances.
The problem is that some will argue that he is on to much money to be playing Reserve Grade ? but players need to be accountable i believe , to be a successful Club.
On his Day there is no doubt Keithy is a Top line Prop , but it's been that long since i have seen him play good.
Anyway that's just what i reckon , i do hope Keithy has a smashing year .

Its a much better side in my opinion as well.

Pretty much a spot on summation from me as well in your posts Foreveratiger… kudos.

Dont know why you backed down either Hobbo. Sauce has been a myth of late, not even sure if he is capable of getting a head of steam up, receives the ball flat footed due to not positioning himself deeper to run onto the ball, gets held up often in tackles thus slow play the balls, and his metres only seem decent because he is our go to man on kick returns... I will pay though that he is the same consistent plodder game in game out, which is a credit to him.

Much like lawrence….and later on richards...no ones saying sauce dont have his faults, weve definitley seen his best.

But on the topic of him & martin, starting possys and bench....its a no brainer the way it is now is the way to go...for now

Im glad hes hungry....now I want an article from ilo saying hes hungry to keep his starting spot, wants more, wants reps etc etc

Gawd….it not that Taupau is not happy with the WT cause he's on the bench ...it's that he's not happy being a bench player and wants to start....improve his game......beggars belief...that is all

Finally….Good call geo

Don't want him to be another….B Austin.
Look after him.

Let him start, whether in the front row or at #13
A important piece to our puzzle.

I agree. To me this is MT telling other clubs to start making offers. He is an international now.
