OFFICIAL Taylan "Tiny" May #301

The Tigers have been impressed by the resurgence of Taylan May this season and are moving quickly to extend him for a further three seasons.

DT is reporting that the 3-year contract will cost the Tigers $500k a season to keep May at Concord.

Absolute steal. Especially when you consider he came in without an offseason and has been playing like a top three centre.

Imagine him with a full offseason.

Very easy to low ball someone who was making peanuts six months ago and clearly hasn’t attracted any other suitors. Which is surprising. His personality must still be on the nose. It’s definitely not due to how he’s been playing. He plays like a MF’er.

If other teams weren't making any offers, maybe they were thinking they have Buckleys chance of prising him out of the Tigers away from his brother.

I wouldn’t say $1.5 million over 3 years is really lowballing a guy who looked like he could be going to jail this time last year. From memory, I dont think it’s that much lower than what he was on at Penrith.

Even if other clubs made offers (which we don’t know), it’s very unlikely they’d get him considering his connection to the club with his brother here and the other Penrith boys unless it was a real lowball offer.

Considering all those circumstances, I think it’s a fair offer for both parties and I wouldn’t be surprised if there were several clauses in it.

I’d expect just the standard clauses as they are enough
In reality bad boys of the nrl often get afforded chances due to clubs wanting to keep a star in their lineup.
Lesser known players tend to get zero chances
