Taylan "Tiny" May

For all the people saying he’d behave cos of his brother, im skeptial. Anyone willing to throw away a plum gig in the best team of the modern era has major issues. He could have won a couple comps by now. Instead he’s posting videos on social media saying “Youz are all dogs”. Whoever youz are 🤔
He certainly has a bad wrap sheet. Tigers might be a bit desperate but the guy is a MAJOR risk. People seem willing to take that risk but I'm not so sure.

Think we've seen enough of Taylan to know he'd be our best outside back, by far.

It's actually frustrating that we are in the box seat for this type of player & we're essentially missing out [unless we aren't, which I am hopeful for]

Naden [off contract, shouldn't be offered another contract from us]
Feledy [Off contract, not top 30 quality]
Faatape [Off contract, NSW cup quality]

AD is also off contract.
Starford Toas final contract year is 2026.
Makasini isn't ready, just yet.
Staines off contract this year as well.

So our backs locked in are;
Luke Lualilii - i rate him, good prospect
Jeral Skelton - been good, injury prone
Sunia Turuva - top tier player
Starford Toa - contract season
Makasini [ zero first grade experience ]
Solomone Saukura [WHO?]

This clearly needs addressing and Tay May should've been the first step.
You make good sense D but there’s obviously a reason we are not moving on him. Maybe it goes against Benjis family policy or maybe there’s something else.
It looked like it was an easy signing but hasn’t eventuated.

It’s far from a guarantee that he’d behave because of his brother but it makes it more likely than if Terrell wasn’t there.

No doubt the guy is a head case and a flog of a human but he’s worth the risks if we’re serious about putting a competitive team on the field. If it works out, we get one of the best centres in the comp at a fraction of what he’s worth. If it doesn’t, we release him.
He's never been one of the best centres in the comp. Admittedly the sample size is pretty small, 8 games after a season off injured. He was ordinary in those 8 games. He was very good on the wing when playing outside the best team in the comp.
Even if he were to come to the club and behave himself I see no guarantee he will be an upgrade on our centres.
Add in does he becomes a distraction for Terrell. If it doesn't work out and we need to release him, how does Terrell react to his brother being punted, compared to not signed?
I acknowledge he has talent but I don't think this is anywhere near the obvious signing the forum is making him out to be. If we have half the cap space available as the forum suggests we do I think we're better off looking elsewhere and paying a little more.

Do u really think his brother is not going to be pissed off , I can see him asking for a release or his form will drop big time , the club can sign him on a contract filled with options to sack him if he stuffs up , there’s only one loser here and it’s the tigers ,

His brother is an extremely weak character if that’s the case. Why are so many adamant that a little punk like Galvin should be moved on for not getting what he wants, yet want to fawn all over May and the Fainu’s and make sure they are kowtowed to? Do you really want to foster that sort of toxic culture.

If we have had discussions with him and outlined our plan he has every right to look at alternatives and compare them, then negotiate for the best deal. There is a point that he offers value to us and a point that he doesn't so we let him walk if it doesn't work for us.

Taylan has the opportunity to play with his brother and that could be a factor in his decsion, if he rejects us it is his decision and we have not compromised our value for money stance.

If his brother is the man he espouses to be he will respect the decision of his brother and the club. There is a deal to be made - but the decision is Taylan's to make. There will be better out there down the track and what we have is "servicable" for the 25 season.

Taylan May would be signed, playing & one of the captaincy group under previous management.

It's hard to be too critical of our new management being slightly more methodical & careful about how & where they spend their money now.

Taylan May is a high risk, high reward type signing. Don't JUST focus on the high reward part. Tyrone May, on the other hand, has shown some signs of settling down & some consistant form in the ESL. Lower risk, with a lower reward.

I imagine if the dollars equal the expected risk, the clauses, all the bits on the side- then the Tigers will pull the trigger. Perhaps on both. I'm not sure it's in Taylan May's best interest to be signed into a Top 30 spot in 2025.

Well here’s another side , where are we going to get a centre that is better than may , and if there is one why have we not got him yet , it’s just like the backrowers we need where are they , Richo has done a great job so far , but it not appears that he is reluctant to sign any one , we got spots we got money but bugger all happening

We know Richardson negotiates confidentially and signings aren't played out in the media. That we're hearing nada suggests things are happening😁.

Taylan May has played 8 games at centre in his whole career. All his highlights are from when he played wing.

If he is to play centre, you have to play him in Cup to earn a spot because he has zero formline to go by. 1 year with club option on low money is my play for him and coming back in reserves.

Only plays NRL this year for injuries and reassess form and behaviour in 2026.

Off curse he has to start in nsw cup , but he could have been there , not sitting waiting for a answer, we are just taking to long to get players in that we need , I think 95% on this forum want more depth in the backrow , but we sit and watch other teams sign every talented players

If there is no better centre’s or second rowers available out there at the moment then I am glad Richo is keeping the cheque book in his pocket.
Let’s not go back to the days of signing who ever is available (on overs) just for the sake of pleasing the supporters.
Have a plan and stick with it.
