TAYLOR..Tigers can compete with Best in NRL...

What do you expect him to say????He sure as hell is not going to come out and say that half is squad are plodders and they have no cap space to replace them. He is just trying to keep a positive feel around the squad in hope they just don't clock off for the year with nothing to play for.

Once again I am not sure if he is the coach we need, but I am going to give him another year before I start ranting

This is still happening after 20 rounds ..I can not believe if he has not got it happening by now well what does 2016 bring . Yes there are a lot of younger guys and other clubs have them to ..do other coaches keep dribbling the same thing out week after week. Taylor is the head coach it reflects on him that at round 21 he has not been able to get HIS NRL players to play 80 minutes. :wtf

I'm afraid that he seems to be blaming his players rather than himself.

**“We’ve** been pretty good for a lot of the games in the last two weeks against some of the better teams in the competition,” Taylor said.
>
**“We** just want more of that and 80 minutes is what **we’re** after.”

He seems to be including himself imo

"We want" in the context of what Taylor is saying would also include the supporters. Unfortunately the supporters cannot do anything about it. It is then left to Taylor to address the problem in some way. It is interesting to note that he doesn't suggest anything about how he would address the problem.

If he is trying to replicate how Melbourne play, let's swap coaches next year and see which team goes forward and which team goes backwards or stagnates.

I would like to place a bet on that scenario, I am fairly confident of winning too.

I wish he would just shut up, keep out of the media and do what he's paid to do….coach the team!

“We just want more of that and 80 minutes is what we’re after.” The Tigers will have the services of captain and hooker Robbie Farah against the Storm but that will be offset by the loss of New Zealand Test back-rower Martin Taupau due to suspension.

Sounds good and probably a fair comment.

Taylor described this week’s opponents Melbourne as a model team and one whose style he was trying to replicate.

“They’re a very disciplined team and they’ve played a very similar style for a long time in regards to how they make the opposition work for everything,” Taylor said.

“Every time we’ll be coming from deep in our half and we’ve got to get ready for that battle.

“And that’s a style we’ve been working on all year.

“We’ve made some progress but we want to keep improving there. “It’s a great challenge in regards to a team that plays a grand final-winning type of football.”

This is what concerns me. I get the impression he keeps stating we need to be like the Storm or the Roosters or whatever. He needs to get the most out of our team and that is all we can expect.

He has been terrible this year and I don't believe that his coaching can be defended rationally however I'm more concerned if he doesn't realize what is wrong with his coaching.

How does it include supporters when he ways We have been pretty good for a lot of the games in the last two weeks against some of the better teams in the competition?
The supporters have been pretty good?
Stretching a long bow there….he is talking on behalf of himself and his team

He has nothing to do with the supporters

This is a worry!

Now his channelling George Costanza, "It's not a lie, if you believe it."

I have this image in my head, of a reporter asking JT a question… and half of this forum watching, waiting in deadly anticipation for the words to come out. Doesn't really matter what the words are, even just the sight of those pale lips is enough to drive a passionate anger.

The bastard is probably going to try and put some kind of positive spin on this blackhole of a season!

I'm ready for you JT... look - he's about to open his mouth! JT's about to say something! I'm ready for your words JT! Bathe my ears with your black speech!

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok forumers lets be completely honest with ourselves…and I mean honest.,.
JT has a sub standard roster...he has a huge salary cap issue...he has a board that is trying to get this club onto a level playing field...

Everyone is crucifying him for trying to get this team to an NRL standard...hyped up halves with big reputations..out of date players and you guys are trying to get him sacked....I have been around for quite awhile and what you are asking is nearly impossible with what he has got..

Just give him his next two years and we will be able to judge him on those performances...
If there is little change, then go for it ,get rid of him,but please give the guy a break and let him do what he does best...if any of you can coach an NRL club ,please feel free to put in an application..end of rant see you at the get together if you have the intestinal fortitude to turn up...I will be there with bells on..cheers..

The headline is rather misleading - I can't find fault with much of what he's said, and I'm a JT-sceptic.

I don't like him brushing the question about players - would like to see him make the players more accountable tbh. Hopefully he is doing so behind closed doors.

Not really. I think fans of other teams have even commented on his 1000 different ways of saying were improving despite coming last.

Taylor is showing worrying signs: Making Excuses, not flexible on structure, playing certain players irrespective of form i.e.: Lovett, Richards. He gets a free pass this year however, even if we recruit no oe if we are not competing for a post in the 8 next year he won't see out the final year.

The team has no Fire in the belly… JT needs to start a Bonfire.
The team has no Mongrel or Aggression... I want to see them play Angry.
I want the team to...Never hang their heads down... To Never give up.
Only then can we compete with the rest and the best.

For once Taylor is right, occasionally we can put in a good performance and compete. It's just the winning/beating teams bit we have a problem with….what a muppet

It's all pipe dream dribble and clisheys. Very few teams actually play to there structures for 80 minutes.

To compete with the top teams, clubs need 20-22 players all on the same page who are all aware of their individual roles and how it applies to the team results.

It starts on Monday and is executed on game day.

I'd doubt half the players respect or believe in Taylor's game plan. If this is the case, tough decisions need to be made!
