Can Talau come back through reserve grade and show he can play well at that level first? I just don’t see it with him.
As for Laurie, can’t see him making it at 6 and wasn’t even good in reserve grade at 1.
We need to get this
Next game right to keep momentum building. Talua nor Laurie provide that .

Not a bad side, only problem would be that Laurie the slowest Tiger winger since Fitzhenry.
Tupou could be a revelation in the centres !

We finally have a winger who plays twice as good as Nofa at half the hit to the cap, with unlimited potential, which probably extrapolates to 12 times better, and you want him moved?

Only because of a major lack of penetration in the centres. Not sure of how good those inside him are !
Agree, we need a Centre, Fullback and half or 5/8th. Whichever way they decide? I still think Brooks is our 7 but we need our backline moving together. Maybe get them looking at highlights reels of Souths tries, then let them sort it themselves? Something has to give sooner or later?

Agree 100%TF, just posted elsewhere Edwards on the market in November, could be a very suitable target.

Yes, I cant see Panthers fitting him into their cap at his market rate? Hes a local junior on around $500k atm.
The big question though? Can we extract the same level of discretionary effort for twice the money?

If we knew the answer to that it would be a no brainer.

We only have one player available in the top 30 to fill centre if Talua is put in reserve grade, and that Tristan Reilly. So Talau returning is very timely.

The wraps on Laurie has always been his speed.... then he gets ran down by Rankin 😂

Worth a shot imo, see what he can do.
All the better coaches have tried him on the wing.

Season is over, find the centre we want starting in 2024 and give them 2 or 3 games while Naden is out. Saukuru, Feledy - whoever Sheen's wants ready for next season. Both lads look solid enough and will be far from our worst centres in the last decade.

Re Talau, here is how I see our squad:

Staines - 6 weeks at fullback then a contract offer or cut loose. As a winger I'd prefer more size but won't stink it up.
Tupou - gun, stick with him for 50+ games
Kepaoa - solid, potential gun, give him this season to work on errors but can't afford to stop improving
Naden - older and probably at his ceiling, our best centre but replaceable as he has too many howlers in him
To'a - solid 3rd centre, can't be first choice
Nofo - solid 3rd winger, can't be first choice (total liability if you consider dollars and attitude)
Bula, Feledy etc.... Unknowns

So where do U fit Talau in? To me the above are mostly back-ups, unknowns or replaceable but I'd have the first 6 equal to or above Tommy. No more passengers - our top 30 has too much dead wood.
