Team by Birth.

Hornsby so I was a North Sydney Bear by birth.

Ahh, well that solves my question about being born in Hornsby.

Didn't stay long as my parents were both originally from northern NSW and met/married in Sydney, so I was back up in the shadow of Mt Warning before my first birthday.

Reason I went for Balmain was because 1988 was the first year I was old enough to understand what supporting a team meant and I went for them in the GF. We lost, I cried. Stayed solid every since.

Figured even though I never had many actual ties to the local club area, I still earned my stripes by sticking solid through some very tough times, and as a kid I could have easily just picked another successful side during the 90s.

Watto your still a Bronco

I may have cut you some slack if Easts had won a premiership in 2013 , but they failed …... Again .....

Sorry

Ryde is closest to Balmain. The BRET team evolved later (maybe 90's?). There has always been a strong link between Holy Cross and Balmain juniors.

I'm curious now, Ryde obviously has a connection to Balmain through BRET but surely the closest team to Ryde would have been Norths?

Was Ryde a Norths feeder area in the before times?

No. As far as I'm aware Ryde Eastwood has always been tigers. My uncle was a Balmain junior from RE. North Ryde hawks are tigers juniors as well

Yep Ryde-Eastwood and North Ryde are Balmain District. Norths Juniors ran pretty much down the North Shore. Pennant Hills is about as far as you go down the main line. As a guide the Norths teams back in the 80s/90s when I played were Berowra, Asquith, Pennant Hills, West Pymble, Lane Cove, Brothers (North Sydney/Northbridge), Hills Hawks. Probably forgetting someone but they were the main ones.

Born in Auburn hospital, first few years lived in Leumeah (sp) After that all over the shop.

In a way the merge was fitting for my birth

I was born in King George V Memorial Hospital in Camperdown NSW And i've lived in Five Dock ,West Leigh,Hurlstone Park,Dulwich Hill,Canterbury (Mostly Dulwich Hill) So i'm a Doggies supporter by birth (Sorry for the massive story lol)

Was born at the Royal Women's Hospital Randwick so I'm guessing Roosters by birth but not 100% sure.

Haha

I rememebr at Five Dock Primary school in 74 & 75 it was my first experience with bandwaggoners….most of the kids there went for balmain, some Wests and a few other teams...the roosters in those years killed everyone...and all of a sudden all my mates were chooks fans

Magpies born and bred…. easy walk from my home to Lidcombe Oval as a child, born in Auburn hospital.

Same here !
Not impressed with the new Auburn Hospital ….. No one seems to know what they're doing.
Hope I never end up in there again !

Born in Balmain and supported them for 50 years until 2000 - the last 13 years WT only (not Balmain or Wests).
Played for Balmain United in early years and most of us didn't get too much of a go from the coach - Latchem Robinson. If you or your parents knew him you were in - if not - sit on the sideline. Will be glad when his stand is pulled down at Leichhardt or renamed. That was always the trouble at Balmain it was who you knew. Glad it has changed at WT.
Ryde has always been in the Balmain Tigers area. The boundary as far as I know is Spurway Street at Ermington and it then becomes the Parramatta area. Apologies for the Rave - once you get going.
