Spot on guys! It's not the criticism of her that's the problem here, it was warranted as it was a terrible mistake. It's the reasoning behind the criticism that Southerntiger has called out, and rightly so.

For those who cannot (or refuse to) see the difference, criticism of male officials usually goes something like this - _"he must be on the take, the ref must have a lot riding on the Broncos tonight, they are getting more and more incompetent, the refs just hate us, the blokes in the bunker are either blind or pissed"_ (one of mine actually).

Criticism of the female official in this thread went something like this - _"she should just get back in the kitchen, she certainly didn't get the gig because of her looks did she, Sleeman & Badger are only there because of the NRL's agenda to include more women in the game, the job should be given to whoever is best qualified, not because they are female."_

If you still can't see the difference between the above criticisms, I'll spell it out for you - male officials are criticised because of the mistakes they make, female officials are criticised because of who and what they are.

So why does it matter anyway? It's a footy forum right, so who cares? It matters because women are human beings just like us, they are supporters just like us, they play the game, they are officials in the game, like it or not they are involved in the NRL at many levels AND they are members on this forum. So please stop bagging Southerntiger for being a decent guy and simply trying to garner some respect for half the human race.

Totally agree Flip,what we all must remember is that we are human and everybody makes mistakes….it is easy to chastise the female touchy because she is in the eye of the general public and thousands of viewers watching the game...I bet that the young lady probably feels she has made a terrible error,but she has to live by her desicion,hopefully she will learn from that call......
