Team List R20 - ISP v Jets

Rankin was up in a box with Mcdoanld (recruitment) and think Moses was also in a separate box but was Alone when I saw him. Buckets was there before the game started and Edwards near the end of game in front of main stand chatting to a fan.

Wests Tigers Intrust Super Premiership team have made it four in a row with a convincing 42-24 win over the Newtown Jets at Leichhardt Oval on Saturday.

With a great crowd in attendance at Leichhardt, it was a complete team performance from Paul Stringer’s side against the fifth-placed Jets, with the home side showing plenty of dominance in attack to eventually come away with a 18-point win in the end.

After surviving several early attacking raids from the home side, Newtown began the match in perfect fashion with a kick back on the inside finding Jesse Sene-Lefao under the posts, with the front rower crashing over to make it 4-0 after nine minutes of play.

Kurt Capewell made no mistake from in front to make it 6-0.

Sene-Lefao would have his second moments later when Jordan Drew broke through the line before offloading for the forward to score out wide, making it 12-0 after 14 minutes.

After building pressure on the Jets’ line with several repeat sets, Wests Tigers would finally get on the board when Robbie Farah darted from dummy half to find Tyler Cassel close to the line, with the back-rower improving the angle to score under the posts.

Justin Hunt added the extras to cut the Jets’ lead to 12-6 after 20 minutes of play.

Wests Tigers would level the match after 23 minutes when Hunt found himself in space close to the line — converting his own try to make it 12-12 in a matter of minutes.

And after continuing to build pressure on the Newtown line, Wests Tigers would have their first lead of the day when Jordan Grant showed superb athleticism and agility for a big man to cut back against the grain and burrow his way over close to the line.

Hunt converted to give Wests Tigers an 18-12 lead after 34 minutes.

Newtown would hit back immediately, though, with Anthony Moraitis crashing over to make it 18-16, with Capewell’s unsuccessful conversion leaving the score as such.

The ensuing kickoff from Hunt would fly out on the full, giving Newtown one last attack before half time, and a penalty blown against Farah in the ruck would allow Capewell the chance to level the scores at 18-all at half-time, which he would do with ease.

After Jets fullback Travis Robinson was penalised for a questionable obstruction in his own end of the field, Wests Tigers would take full advantage as Hunt grabbed his second try of the day with some great individual skill, beating several to score next to the posts.

The halfback converted to extend the home side’s lead to 24-18 after 50 minutes.

A big run from Michael Chee Kam would put Wests Tigers on the attack, and speedster Josh Addo-Carr would finish off the move the next play as he dove over next to the posts — giving Hunt another simple conversion to push Wests Tigers’ lead to 30-18.

Newtown looked to hit back with several sets on the home side’s line, but even that would turn into points for Wests Tigers as Addo-Carr grabbed his second try of the day with a 95m intercept, with Hunt’s conversion taking the score to 36-18 after 62 minutes.

Wests Tigers would continue to pile on the points, and it was Curtis Sironen’s turn to get into the action as he steamed on to a short ball close to the line to crash over.

Hunt continued his perfect record with the boot, making it seven-from-seven to give Wests Tigers a commanding 42-18 lead with just over 10 minutes remaining.

Newtown would grab a consolation try in the final minutes as Moraitis put Drew over untouched to make it 42-24, but it would be all in vain for the visitors as Wests Tigers held firm to record their fourth win in a row and moved to equal second on the ladder.

ISP FULL TIME — Wests Tigers 42 (Hunt 2, Addo-Carr 2, Cassel, Grant, Sironen tries; Hunt 7/7 goals) def. Newtown Jets 24 (Sene-Lefao 2, Moraitis, Drew tries; Capewell 4/5 goals)

That pinnacle of professionalism Robbie couldn't help himself in the after match media frenzy by putting the boot in to Taylor. Even had the arrogance to say I might learn to keep my mouth shut while grinning. Yep the guy is all class.

If Melbourne were trying to move Cameron Smith on, how many clubs would be lining up to take him & how much of his contract would the storm get stuck with? Why does no-one want Robbie? The only loss he has been involved in recently was when he was knocked out.

I just hope this doesn't split us apart over the coming weeks with fans turning up at reggies games and showing their dissatisfaction in Taylor by making Robbie a Martyr. Along with Robbie! Robbie! Robbie! calls continually at our first grade games Distracting the boys from the 2 points that we need in our run for the top 8

I think the point is Taylor should have known that this would have happened when he made the decision. He can't make a decision like this then complain that it has distracted the team at an important part of the season.

Well time for action now. Like him or not he aint far behind Smith atm and definitely the best at this position we have wasted getting 900k playing reserve grade.
If Taylor and the young halves don't get us in the top 4 next year they are gunna have to go with Farah.

If Ballin was available one could argue that Taylor wants that style from an experienced no 9.
But at this rate he is choosing anybody but Farah out of spite weakening the team.

He's the best hooker we have by far and I'd rather he be playing first grade tomorrow, but he is a long way behind Smith.

We've been average w Farah and average without him this year. Unless he can defend on our right edge I don't see what he's going to ADD by being in the team. We'll still be a poor defensive team.

This whole statement that our attack is being compromised with him there is ridiculous; scoring points is not our problem!

I was out there and i thought it was a great day. Good atmosphere, good football.

Proud of how Tigers fan can rally around a club legend. I saw plenty of Tigers players on the hill who were there to support as well.

Bloke has given 20 years loyal service to the club I thought is was fantastic the support the fans showed.

I don't blame Farah for being emotional.

Loving the JT soldiers getting their knickers in a knot over it

Spot on. When our season implodes the people behind this mess and the timing of it should man up and face the supporters to explain why this decision was made at such an important stage of the season.
Hope our team can keep their heads and finish the year off strongly but I have massive doubts of that being the case. We have proved to be extremely fragile mentally in recent season's, this type of circus cannot help our cause.

Total agree. WTs management should have known this would happen. If they didn't they are very ignorant.
The timing of their decision couldn't have been any worse. A decision not to play your strongest team when you have a chance of making the finals was always going to be divisive. Obviously some players and a lot of fans were going to angry and upset.
Now after a huge turn up for a ISC game combined big win, In front of alot of media people. Now they are going to be in overdrive pumping the news articles out about us.

They were his 2nd team as a 13year old, behind the bulldogs.

I don't see any evidence that JT has complained about what happened at the ISP match yesterday. I'm sure he's not happy, - some of the signs and sentiment was below the belt - but he'll be smart enough not to do it publicly.

If I was Farah, i'd be taking the high moral ground on this. I know emotions are in overdrive, but instead of his post match comments to the media yesterday, he should have said he disagreed with the decision, but the coach made a call and will do everything he can to get back in 1sts.

Also JT and Pascoe made it clear that this was the selection decision for 'this' week. Outcome will be reviewed and Farah is in the frame for selection every week.

Personally i'd like to see him back and off the bench, but he won't help his cause
