TEAM LIST Team List Vs Parramatta (Round 2)

Team List
I just saw the Team List and the bench looks to be a worry this week:

14 Daine Laurie
15 Matt Eisenhuth
16 Ice Papali
17 Luke Garner

Then I realised it was 4 times premiership-winning team, The Pamfers.

Aren't they the Club with huge depth? Could spell trouble at the foot of the Mountains.
A bench of Pigers!! (pronounced pye-gurs).

Yes the same they are sports mad
Think if we can't win this one then its really bad sign for the season ahead
Ref Atkins is a worry as he can go either way but usually is influential on the result
Better go easy on him if we win. You wanna keep going to the cricket and he sounds a good young fella despite his NRL team.
I wanna hear about it too if we win.

I think Twal is a bad option at lock, I'd only play him at prop.

In defense, he's a solid defender front on, but isn't that effective when he needs a bit of lateral movement and his line speed is not that great.

In attack, he's very limited with one out hit ups and absolutely no passing. Props who have played that role well have either been dynamic attacking players or players with good ball skills.

I think the strategy is to toughen our defense with him there, but like I said, I don't think he's much of a difference maker.

My preference is to run a rotation of bird and fainu, with fainu coming on at the end of the half to hopefully add some speed and attacking threat. Both have good line speed and can play the disruptor role to the other team and both are strong tacklers. Both also have passing and creativity, where whenever Twal gets the ball in the opposition 20 you know nothing is going to happen.

I'd run with da silva, pole, hunt and fainu on the bench. I know that's a little light, but I think rotating the hookers is important and bird, seyfarth, doueihi, fainu all have versatility and I just think we're far too one dimensional in attack and our defense is very poor with or without Twal at lock. Both Twal and May can go long minutes and still play at their best so that allows pole and hunt to play more of an impact role.

The bloke in the bar guys reckon it’s May that is more our lock and Twal plays the prop your suggesting.
Though it’s funny, Twal actually set up our only try with his offload inside the 20.

Twal has one of, if not the best effective tackle ratio in the club. The man is a machine & against Newcastle made good metres busting tackles & even getting off the odd offload.

Yep even when he finally gets an offload away, it’s still odd.

He played to the best of his ability and seemed ready to go for game one, unlike some other more fancied players.
Still a benchy.

I think if Bird can strong a few games together he'll be starting lock pretty soon. It's a long season so assume coaches are opting against burning him put too early.
Api will help our attack shape loads, as will the added threat of Bula chiming in out wide.
Another factor we are not privy too is training loads, which could have played a part in why we faded in the second half.

It's only round 2 so maybe best we get a bit of a form guide on the board over 5 rounds before forming an opinion.

Not a fan of toa, usual average performance expected.
Can come up with a line break out of nothing though . Plays shit all game, generic hitup out of yardage , Inside step , he’s away …. Then we all sit back and ask the big question about him “why doesn’t he play like that all game every game “ ….. then you have the “ Holmes bath” outlier game as well .

It wasn't just the Holmes game, he was red hot for about a month at that time.... then got injured and has never found it again. Hasn't been able to stay on the field and play consistent footy unfortunately

Who would you bring Bird on for? And when? And playing what role?

Does anyone agree he looked a bit lost last week? Played good minutes but I didn't really see him.

Thoughts?
Bird is a middle mate . Friday proved it . When he went to the edge , it almost immediately looked shakey . That’s where his 6 missed tackles came from . Seyfarth was doing a job out there , which I know will cause people to come at me , because of the group think around him , and how he’s pretty flaccid with the ball in hand .
Bird offers a point of difference , when we bring him into the ball he can get him behind the markers for a quick ruck , as well as offer the “pall playing lock” alternative to Twals third middle defensive option to begin games .
it worked in the trial , and didn’t work in the knights game because the ref was playing the “one team gets the rub of the green , the other team doesn’t get penalties “ ref style . Which annoys everyone .
I bag Klein all the time , but man I’d much rather his penalty-a -thon “you will listen or I will make you listen “ ref style . With old mate on Friday both teams walk away feeling robbed .
Hopefully we get some more consistent ruck interpretations , so we can find our front allow bird the space in behind the ruck . Api will help big time with this as well .

Wow, a glass half full! Mate how long has he been here 3-4 years and how many good games in that time 4-5? One a year, yeah red hot form, he plated one great game and two good games hardly red hot!!

I hope you’re right . Because that player and that form , over a period of time , starts forcing his way into rep conversations . Conversations no one is having right now .
Still he offers a weapon on the edge .

He's got talent and he often represents a mismatch 1v1. His main problem aside from his injury woes is that his footy IQ is abysmal. He will benefit from our upgrades in the halves and our middles, bit more time and space on the edges with a simplified game plan.
He's really got the next 10 or so games to prove his worth (as does Doueihi), after that May likely owns one side and he's fighting with Naden and AD to get the other side until the end of the year when we go to market.

Need him this Sunday what will be a hot dry track & Parra have heaps of speed out wide I think it's a good selection & hope he could hold it down and show some form

extremely simple this week. keep Parramatta out of our red zone and we win.

their yardage game is poor, their halfback can't kick a footy and their defence is insipid. their only calling card is their attack.

providing we don't grant them the opportunity to score points, we'll get it done.
Not happy about the hot day predicted jr that can cause headaches in defense, there should be 20 minutes then drink breaks you would think.
