Technology / Social Decline

Kids should get smashed with Mathematics and English homework. The number of kids I see in entry level jobs who have a slender grasp on the English language and that cannot add without aid of a calculator is horrific.

I'm in the same boat as milky I was born in ''98 aswell.
When I was a kid the first electronic thing I got was a phone a nokia 3360 from my GrandDad on my B'day(Turning 12). It was his old phone. It was black and white phone with no credit. The only thing I could do with it was play the cool snake game on it after school, but I was so grateful I even got a phone.
Kids these days don't appreciate anything you get them an I phone 4 they want the I phone 6 you get them a Playstation 3 they say ''Tom from my class has a Playstation 4''.

I just finished school and even in Tafe people in my class have trouble writing and spelling, so much so that the teacher tells them to re-write some of there exams and assignments because he can't understand it.

Half my class in Tafe are on their phones during class either on Facebook or Texting or Snap Chatting the Teachers bold spot and putting different faces/lenses on it. It makes it so hard to learn when the Teacher is telling someone to put there phone away every 30 seconds. Technology is the best and worst thing that has every happened to this world.

Steve Austin ( no not Stone Cold  )

AAhh memories of the Six Million Dollar man.
Am surprised that the Bionic woman, Jamie Sommers,( played by Lindsay Wagner), was not his girlfirend. Probably a good idea, as they may have destroyed some beds.

Back on topic now, there may come a day, when no facebook, or other social media.
Then people may have to interact more.

Well I hope the garbage out continues , he is one of the top students in his classes

The garbage in will stop shortly , then it will come from a tutor

I don't know if other parents are in the same boat , but how they teach particular things (in particular Maths ) is just so different from the way we learnt

Sure is Happy. I'm very good with Math, but even i get a bit confused with some of the teaching methods teachers use nowadays at school. It can be frustrating, but i always try and show my kids an easier way of doing it. Then i get " No mum, this isn't how we are shown to do it at school" :unamused:

Despite a few numbats thoughts on here Maths is my strong suit as well , and even with the backtracking kids in Maths now do with equations I had to stop and think "How do I go about this "

Also we aren't happy with our Maths teacher the amounts of homework is ridiculous

2nd last weekend before exams she had given them 5 hours of Maths homework 😱pen_mouth: and quite often she will send the kids up to a dozen emails in regards to extra work

When you see your childs love for a subject turn into loathing you have to ask what is wrong

:astonished: Wow… That's a hell of a lot for year 7.

The hard work paid off

He got 2nd best in Year 7 of 76 kids

A+ school result
