Teddy plans to end career at WT

Plenty of people hated on Benji for leaving the club but are welcoming him with great enthusiasm.

The same people?

Shut up teddy. You've made you're decision, and lost all goodwill with tigers fans. This kind of talk isn't going to win it back

While I understand people with this view, I think it's very petulant.

Tedesco hasn't dropped his bundle since the signing or being a complete pile of crap for us this year. If he wants to come back after he's done at the Roosters, the club would be mad to not even consider it.

You'd probably be over the moon if he did come back too.

You're right, I probably would welcome him back. But talk is cheap, and I don't see any point in him coming out and saying this unless he's trying to repair his reputation among tigers fans. Too late teddy, you've made your bed.

Funniest thing is he didn't actually say what the title thread suggests..but anyway…we move on..

Exactly. He has proven the sort of person that he is. Good riddance.

Watto has it all wrong a few pages ago about prioritising Tedesco and failing to retain him. Best thing that has happened for this club 2017 is every single one of our elite-money players are gone.

For 18 seasons we have been a club with 1-2 big name players and hopes that the rest of thr side can step up. That strategy doesn't work. Of course Tedesco is a great footballer but retaining him at $1M+ pa would have been more of the same, all our eggs in one basket.

So glad now to have 30 more evenly matched blokes, very few show ponies, and team-wide competition for every spot. Boon or someone said it before, the gap between best player and worst player in our squad is compressing and we will be better for it.

That strategy works for Melbourne. It mightened have worked for us but that probably has more to do with the systems in place at our club than the system itself.
Teddy is the sort of player that any club would done everything possible to retain especially at this time in his career, and unfortunately we couldnt.
Time will tell if we have bought well - the forwards are looking healthy but our spine still holds a level of concern and what we are paying Reynolds is a close to "elite" as you can get on his current form. Hope the change of club and coach justifies it.

No I dont agree, the strategy for Melbourne is a different thing.

For starters Storm have several elite quality players, at least 4-5 at any one time. Secondly they have been very lucky to get a Slater-Inglis-Smith-Cronk combo all emerging around the same time.

Of course Storm have good junior pathways and a great coach, some advantages in terms of geography, but nobody can plan for the spine they've had for thr past 10 seasons. And they are astute enough to line up very capable replacements to meet specific needs in their roster changes.

Lastly Melbourne cheated the system as aggressively as any club has ever done and still managed to keep the bulk of their roster in the fallout.

The Storm have developed their elite players through their system.
Cant remember when they have gone after an elite player from another team, but they certainly have lost players to other clubs that they have developed, while always retaining Cronk Slater and Smith - and replacing players with other teams discards or players that cant crack FG spots.
You cant discount that strategy because they have done it successfully -granted that they have three greats that they have built successful squads around for over a decade.

On one hand people argue 'yes it is good that we do not put all our eggs in one basket' e.g. Tedesco, Woods, Moses, but on the other hand they say 'when will we sign marquee players', please explain :brick:

The problem that we've had is signing dud marquee players. We've been paying Woods as a marquee player. I mean that is crazy stuff. Moses and Brooks as well. I can understand Tedesco being paid as a marquee player but that is pushing it and he is the most disloyal player that has ever played NRL.

People only seem to believe what they would like to believe. It's been pointed out a few times it's not what he said, but for some reason some people actually believe he said he wants to come back

Ted has put in a 5/10 season for us this year at best. Last night was a 4\. Im sick of the sight of the clown. One more game and we are done with this self centered, entitled jerkoff.

How is Tedesco disloyal

He back flipped in 2013 because he wanted to stay at the Tigers.

It may be disappointing that he is leaving but I don't blame him for taking the higher offer. You'd be dumb if you didn't take the higher offer from a premiership heavyweight.

He left the Tigers. Does that answer your question. I blame him for leaving and it's clear that he is disloyal.

So you argue he isn't disloyal yet acknowledge he's leaving for more money

Lol

He's been better than that. You are clearly judging him harshly because you're a petulant toss behaving like a jilted ex lover.

Sounding like a very scorned lover Earl….It's not healthy..

I'll get over it. The guy can play but I do somewhat agree with Stryker. He hasn't put it consistently for us and against the cowboys he basically didn't try.

Haha jilted ex lover…just like Geo said to someone else. Ive read some of your stuff. Not one original though ever. Glad to see that trend continuing. Ted has been average this year and below par Friday. Get out of his bed and look at the game objectively.

Some players can't be replaced, Teddy is one of those,
I think that the Way the club has been run over previous years, had more to do with players want ing to leave than anything else.
I agree that He should have been retained, but maybe he didn't have enough confidence in the club to take the chance and risk his career on decisions that the club is likely to make in the future( they don't have a great record in that department . )
I still think that if Taylor had been sacked last year, there may have been a better chance of keeping Teddy and Woods. ( just my opinion )
The one thing I'm sure of that we will see the best of Tedesco once he's not the only target on the team like he has been here.
Stop Tedesco and you stop the Tigers, is the way Coaches look at us. Next season he'll at least have players around him that will have to be watched as well.
Pity that he won't be here, But probably the best decision for his own career, ( and you only get one).

Teddy certainly hasn't lost all goodwill from our supporters. We forget that the forum is a tiny number compared to the overall number of Wests Tigers supporters our there in the real world.
And he he hasn't lost goodwill from everybody here.
Just because we're on a forum here doesn't make our opinion worth more than all the rest of those supporters.
Most people that I know and talk to , have no problem with him going to a club that will make his job easier on the field, despite being disappointed that we are losing him. Some think that he should have left when he first had the chance.
Only a couple of those that I know are spitting the dummy , and think that he owes us the world,

Maybe disloyal is the incorrect term. Maybe just someone with no honour at all, and not someone you would want to rely on with your life.
I can't believe that you would see breaking a contract and your word (even if it was to stay with us) as something that can have a positive spin put on it.
