I like to eat fresh food and produce, not when its past is "Used By" Date

I dont want left overs anymore.

Who he was past the "Used By" date?

Teddy is 24, by the time he finishes his 4 years at the rorters he will be 28

28 is when players reach their peak - not the used by date

And left overs isn't the best fullback in the NRL

Ted IS NOT the best fullback in the NRL.

Well he is the best WFB in Fantasy

Where are Wests Tigers positioned on the ladder in this Fantasy you speak of.

A couple of things.
Teddy is a good fullback currently NSW rep but in the future I have a feeling Dylan Edwards will surpass Teddy. And like that, chances are there will be another young fullback that surpasses them both.
Penrith didn't grow Edwards, they recruited him as a junior from Bellogin (apologies for the spelling).
His parents drove him down each week to play in the Penrith comp as a kid.
We need to be smart and look to do the same.
Having all our hopes tied into some privileged local boys screwed us.
We hate on the roosters. But you have to admire there ability to look an attractive option for players 'in their prime'. Being able to recruit this way has lead to most of there success.
I hope we as a club and fans for that matter are learning that this is a slow process and hopefully one day we will be able to retain our future Teddy.
In our current predicament it wasn't a bad result that we were not able to retain him but it is a lesson that needs to be learnt and fast.
Money or loyalty won't mean anything to a player. It's the wins on the board that do.

Bellingen ….that's in queensland

Sure is - its about 100klms north of that other Qld town Bowraville.

Teddy and the rorters are a perfect match, as is Sharon Woods and Dave Klemmer. Now uncle Ben to the Eels and we are complete.

In my fantasy Wests Tigers are undefeated and coming 1st

Watto has it all wrong a few pages ago about prioritising Tedesco and failing to retain him. Best thing that has happened for this club 2017 is every single one of our elite-money players are gone.

For 18 seasons we have been a club with 1-2 big name players and hopes that the rest of thr side can step up. That strategy doesn't work. Of course Tedesco is a great footballer but retaining him at $1M+ pa would have been more of the same, all our eggs in one basket.

So glad now to have 30 more evenly matched blokes, very few show ponies, and team-wide competition for every spot. Boon or someone said it before, the gap between best player and worst player in our squad is compressing and we will be better for it.

True…but what the WT don't have that clubs like the broncos, Storm and Roosters do have is brown paper bags....until that discrepancy is resolved by the NRL, the "elite" clubs will continue to dominate

Apparently not keeping him is awful for player retention and no one will come to the club…

Dylan Edwards is impressive isn't he. He seems so strong and allusive. When you see a talented player for the first time you always think to yourself he could be anything. I said the same thing about Tommy Turbo and in the game against Manly Teddy showed his class. Nothing replaces experience. That NSW fullback spot will be locked up for a while.

Can almost guarantee CB every player we bought came to us because we offered them siginificantly more money than their current clubs. Ivan Cleary alone and playing for WTs was never goung to attract players without a healthy money incentive. So we need these players to go well, cause if we do have to offload them we will more than likely be paying for it.

So what if we had to pay overs for these players. In our position you don't have a choice. The aim is to get results with these guys so the next time we go into the open market, we are a more attractive proposition for players.

That strategy works for Melbourne. It mightened have worked for us but that probably has more to do with the systems in place at our club than the system itself.
Teddy is the sort of player that any club would done everything possible to retain especially at this time in his career, and unfortunately we couldnt.
Time will tell if we have bought well - the forwards are looking healthy but our spine still holds a level of concern and what we are paying Reynolds is a close to "elite" as you can get on his current form. Hope the change of club and coach justifies it.

Was there any official club organised farewell for Tedesco pre or post game?Banners? Lap of honour etc last night?

No I dont agree, the strategy for Melbourne is a different thing.

For starters Storm have several elite quality players, at least 4-5 at any one time. Secondly they have been very lucky to get a Slater-Inglis-Smith-Cronk combo all emerging around the same time.

Of course Storm have good junior pathways and a great coach, some advantages in terms of geography, but nobody can plan for the spine they've had for thr past 10 seasons. And they are astute enough to line up very capable replacements to meet specific needs in their roster changes.

Lastly Melbourne cheated the system as aggressively as any club has ever done and still managed to keep the bulk of their roster in the fallout.

Shut up teddy. You've made you're decision, and lost all goodwill with tigers fans. This kind of talk isn't going to win it back

While I understand people with this view, I think it's very petulant.

Plenty of people hated on Benji for leaving the club but are welcoming him with great enthusiasm.

Tedesco hasn't dropped his bundle since the signing or being a complete pile of crap for us this year. If he wants to come back after he's done at the Roosters, the club would be mad to not even consider it.

You'd probably be over the moon if he did come back too.
