Teddy plans to end career at WT

Having only read the quote in an article and not seen it live, I was under the impression he was open to returning, not that he wants to. Spoke about how the club looked after him, so he obviously still has some affection for the place.
I'm not going to begrudge a professional athlete moving to another team. Every fan espouses loyalty; it's not dead but it's hardly a priority for everyone. People can't forget that Thurston's status in the rugby league pantheon was always under question until he won a premiership. Completely irrespective of his state and international resume, there was always that same line trotted out against him til they finally got one.
Teddy has openly discussed his desire to be the best fullback in the game, and I can understand he'd get the best chance at that recognition in a performing, successful team.
We're on our way, and yes, it sucks that he's leaving, but success is a perfectly reasonable motivator, as romantic as loyalty may seem.

This x 10\. It's sport. The carry on around here is like he's married your daughter, had kids then left asking for child support.

Assuming he's not over the hill, I'd welcome him back.
[Love the analogy]

Yes the ROI isnt terrific but since 2000 they have finished first or second at the end of the premiership rounds eight times. Thats impressive in itself but making a GF on average every three years is also satisfying.

Certainly.

Brisbane have only won two premierships since 2000, but still have made the finals in 15 out of 17 years (not inclusive of this year,) and outside of the premiership years, they've made at least the second week of the finals a further 9 times.

So not counting this year, in 17 years, your team has made the second week of the finals 11 times at least, third week 7 times and the grand final 3 times, and won it twice. Yeah, it's only two premierships in 17 years, but they run well deep into the finals and have a culture of sustained success. That's why Easts and Brisbane get whomever they want and we sign cast offs.

No thanks his best years will be at the Roosters, if he comes back and i hope we don't take him back he'll be washed up.

Glad we only paid him 450k this year… We got our value... He's not worth 1.2m. Not a game winner IMO.

I was with you until the last sentence….

x2 hes our best player even when hes not playing good, definately a game winner.

This bloke said no to an offer from the tigers that would have made him the highest paid player the tigers have signed because he wasnt ready to sign and Ivan was putting too much pressure on him yet he instantly takes a less offer from the roosters then wants to come back to finish his career here cause he feels like he owes us for taking care of him.

Go kick rocks Teddy you scum bag.

Without seeing the interview it sounds like something that arrogant Cocknocker Braith Anasta would say… The NRL is not the English Premier League, the Roosters are not Manchester United and James Tedesco is not Wayne Rooney... Roosters have only won one more premiership than the Tigers since 2000, **they aren't travelling that much better than we are...**

You reckon?

In terms of premierships I guess they are right. Overall we all know Easts fans generally don't make plans for at least the first and second week of September while we're putting up team lists for round 1 the following year.

Since 2000…
Wests Tigers = 3 finals series for 1 GF appearance, 0 Minor Premierships and 1 Premiership.
Sydney Roosters = 11 finals series for 6 GF appearances, 4 Minor Premierships and 2 Premierships.

...i think they are doing a lot better than us.

Their deep pockets, better management, coach selection and recruitment outstrips our efforts ….. no argument on that one.
But perhaps, just perhaps we are catching up.

Teddy is keeping his options open in case he ruptures his ACL twice in the next two seasons and gets turfed from Easts.

I wonder if he has burned too many bridges to be able to return back.

Thanks for the memories Teddy but you have moved on and so have the WT.

Will be Blues long term No 1 then when the legend Billy Slater retires will replace him in the Australian side.

I don't like the Roosters but will keep a keen interest on Teddy's career.

As a long term Western Suburbs supporter I am use to our great players leaving and plying their trades elsewhere.

Money talks and they only have a limited window to earn the big bucks.

Good luck Teddy

Won't happen as he will either be a superstar by then and the Roosters will keep him or he will be busted by then. The comment about the possibility of coming back to the Tigers is a little disrespectful to his new employer as he hasn't even started with the Roosters and is contemplating a possible return to the Tigers. Me thinks like Woods he is just blowing hot air up our you know what as he tries to appease the Wests Tigers fans given he didn't want to stay.

Yeah he needs a PR manager teaching him this stuff, but instead he's got Isaac Moses, who's made a career out of losing friends and alienating people

He will only come back to the tigers if the roosters no longer need him.So no i would much rather have someone who wants to be here.
Twice he has decided the grass is greener elsewhere thats fine but i wouldnt give him a 3rd chance

Teddy had already signed with the Roosters before Ivan put pressure on him, inside info from Roosters retention department from a friends sister who works for them.

He can finish up a Tiger for sure.

If Castleford is still in the ESL that is…....

Castleford are the league leaders this year, 10 points clear at the top with 20 wins and 3 losses and already locked up the minor premiership, don’t think they would have a place for him.

It will be off to Bathurst Tigers then.

He may still finish up at the wests tigers. Given his history a major injury could mean he never pulls on a roosters jersey

Sorry, posted a 3 week old table, Castleford have 22 wins and 4 losses but still 10 points clear of Leeds in second and with a massive +421 points differential.

It's the Oberon Tigers or Bathurst Panthers, it's about as cold here as Teddy will get at his first game at LO for the Roosters.
