Tedesco and high balls

think it's obvious to other teams that tedesco's weakness is under the high balls.

was it a one off bad day or has that always been his weakness?

he's very good chasing high kicks but struggles defending them.

wish lawrence would disappear when it comes to catching high balls- he's so hopeless: Trex style

A bit of a concern throughout the year and unfortunately highlighted today due to the wind. He's not a real liability though and it's not particularly difficult for him to work on so he should be fine.

Was concerned today after he spilled a couple.
Previously hasnt worried me, except for when he first started. Always used to slip and lose footing for no reason. Even on the driest track.

Tell you who is a surprise package under high balls though, KEVIN
Has a strange way of catching but mostly very effective

noffa has great technique under the high ball.. gets so high for a short man and catches it on the chest and always has momentum forward.

mansour and noffa will be nsw wingers in a couple of years :sign:

teddy just seems awkward in whatever he does tbh..

Watch him in the warm up and had no issues. The conditions were difficult and he is normally safe as a bank.

Perservere with the team they will come good

id have to say today was just an off day. i played fullback and those high balls in swirling winds are extremely difficult to read and often move further back or forward to where you would expect it to get to you at the very last moment.

didnt bother me at all tbh. i thought it was well done for him to regather that one in the in goal.

as for lawrence - i have seen him very often blatantly move off his line to bump into an opposition player while shepherding a team mate under a high ball. he never gets penalised for it and i wonder how he gets away with doing it so deliberately!!

Tedesco seems to be turning taking high balls over his shoulder facing our try line which is a safeguard because if dropped is not a knock on. The downside to this is it's harder to catch cleanly. Not sure if this is a ploy or just the way it's panning out. Especially today

I've seen Slater have an absolute Paul Caridge of a game under the high ball a couple of times.
Nothing to worry about.

not sure which it is, but it is certainly the safest option for a difficult kick…

I wouldn't say it's a safeguard, he should be taking them side on instead. That way if he drops it it should still go backwards, but it also lets him watch the ball in to his arms easier. Definitely something to work on, although he is normally very safe.

i think he feels safer catching the ball coming over his shoulders than forwards.. as i said previously, he looks OK chasing a high ball

While we're on the topic of high balls, how good was Ava's take off the kick off?! Wouldn't look out of place in the slip cordon.

Not since his eye surgery he hasn't

Teddy got himself in some awkward positions trying to defuse the high ball and his hand positioning was effected by that

Personally I always found having relaxed hands and relaxed as possible body positioning was key
