Tedesco for 2012?

I watched the Tigers NYC team yesterday and was impressed with what I saw from James Tedesco. He seemed to have a good positional sense and was sharp in attack. However, the aspect that impressed me the most was his ability to run the ball back with speed and footwork. He was dangerous all day and made a break near full time that led to a try. On top of this he looks like a solid goal kicker. What do you guys think of him being blooded in the NRL some time next year?

He's 17 and i daresay he's no chance next year. The club won't rush him and if I had to hazard a guess, he'll come into FG in 2 years time (he will be 19 or 20) then.

I tend to aggree, sheens will let him develope for at least another year,he doesnt bring many through early. Though the ones he does use young end up being goodies eg marshall, lawrence. If he gets a game next year he will be something special.

Sheens has a massive opinion of James Tedesco and is very likely to play him whenever Joel Reddy is not available next season.

Willow not arguing with you but that saying if your good enough your old enough comes to mind as well as William Hopoate performances this year
Don't want to put any pressure on the kid but I reckon he will get a few games next season

Mitch Brown for fullback for mind, then Joel Reddy, then John Grant when he is ready for FG. Tedesco may be brilliant in a year or two, however he may be another Mullaney - If we have existing depth in the position, he won't get a run - plain and simple.

Mitch showed some good things yesterday when given half an inch of space - would LOVE to see him doing the support play set moves in lieu of Moltzen next year as I think he has an extra yard of pace in him over Timmy.

I'd be most interested to see a sprint race between Brown and Lawrence.

My info tells me we were looking at signing Tom Humble from the Eels, but have put this on hold as the coaching staff believe Tedesco will be ready and shouldn`t be held back for too long. Reddy to start the season as our number one choice, Tedesco applying the pressure.

Humble as I have stated elsewhere would be a good signing for depth, he would be cheap and he can play a few positions.

I think Tedesco will be our future fullback but as others have stated I don't think he will be ready next year. It depends on what other youngsters are given a go. You can't have too many young players in the NRL side at once. I think Sironen and Miller will be youngsters given a go next year.

Yeah Reddy was ruled out for the season raged.

Someone mentioned during the rumour saga that Tedessco wouldn`t be at the tigers next year. Hoping that was BS

I sincerely doubt that AJ*. All the talk from the club has been that Tedesco is ear-marked to be the long-term fullback. I doubt they'd let McKinnon and Moltzen go if that wasn't the case. I'd think Reddy was the obvious choice but I wouldn't be surprised if Tedesco gets a shot in the trials and Sheens and co will see what happens. Sheens is certainly not afraid to pick youngsters. Remember both Marshall and Lawrence debuted in high school and I believe he picked Payten when he was young and tried to select a 16 year old up at North Queensland.

I expect Sheens will give the kid a run mid to late next year if injury provides the opportunity. He will probably train with the top squad next year and be on the fringes, with a view to a starting spot 2013 if proven.

Almost all the young talents have been brought in this way - Lawrence played 5 games late 2006 then most of 2007, Benji mid 2003 for 2004, Ayshford mid 2009 for 2010 etc.

If they are good enough, they take their chance and compel the coach to keep picking them.

Will Hopoate also has a man's physique despite only being 19 though Happy. Tedesco is by no means a midget, he's bigger than Mullaney, but fullback is one of those positions that is tough on the body, fullbacks have to cover a lot of ground during the game and are constantly barking instructions at the defensive line to fill the gaps etc.

I don't think Tedesco will be rushed for these reasons. I certainly believe he'll be added to the fulltime squad in the off-season where he can benefit from training with the senior players but I'd be looking to blood him in 2013\. Let him play a full season in Toyota Cup - if he carves up and excels, well maybe he's worth giving a go. But I expect Joel Reddy to be given first shot at fullback, followed by Mitch Brown if he is re-signed, and then there's the possibility of John Grant depending on how quickly and well he adapts to league.

Yeah Willow don't want him starting and playing every game but think he will get a shot at some stage just to blood him for following season in my opinion
Agree that Joel Reddy will be fullback round 1 if fit

Great talent but really still in a late teens body ,with a full off season on the wieghts ect could get a few games next year .It would be silly to rush this prospect as there is defintly Slater like potential there!

Lawrence would absolutely cream him. It wouldnt even be a contest.

groat has got a run at 18 in the front row so tedesco will get a game in 1st grade if he improves next year that is for sure, but form and how he goes in the off season will have a huge bearing.

At least play him in NSW cup. Much better test of where hes at than Toyota Cup

Really getting over hearing about Mitch brown - he's like tits on a bull… Tedesco is a class act and SHOULD be blooded sometime next year

Very harsh on Mitch Brown there… he has always given 100% in any position he has been thrown into... and played some great games.
