Tedesco Question

Wonder if he might try and renege.

Knows he knows what players like Mansour, Proctor and company think of Stuart popularity and Canberra's plight Tedesco would be very wise to renege.

As much respect as I've lost for him over the past week, I'd love for him to pull a Moltzen here.

With the cap situation up in Brisbane, there's an outside chance they won't be able to hold onto Milford…

Many comments on the forum in regards to his signing with Canberra are backed with emotion, some want his head. He showed no loyalty, he took the money, etc etc.

On the flip side, you see lots of complaints on this site about the supposed $600K a year that Lawrence is on, yet some of the same people complaining are upset the club didn't do everything to retain Tedesco, go figure.

In reality the Tigers offered him less than the Raiders, some say half as much, even if its $200K less per year, thats more than most of us, if not all of us, earn in a full year of working full time. Why should Teddy give that up? He clearly has some injury concerns, whether or not they will continue is the big question. He has a chance to set himself up for life, its like taking out insurance.

On the other hand I'm happy the club took a risk based perspective and offered reasonable dollars, for a potential talent still early in his career. The money offered by Canberra is fraught with risk and to me highlights the difficulty they have in attracting players. $1.9 mil (or more) is a lot of money to risk on an unproven talent.

I wish him well at the Raiders, and since I live in Canberra I may even go and watch him play some times. I sorry that those around him haven't helped through this as well as they could have, may have prevented him from saying some of the crap he's said since signing. In the end he is really just a kid who said some stupid things, he may reflect of those choices in years to come and wish he did it differently, anyone who's over thirty will understand.

Next year he may replace slater as my most hated fullback, no thats going too far, but at the moment he is still a Tiger. I hope he plays well and we make it to the finals. I wish him well in his future endeavours, I just hope he's happy with the choice he has made, especially when the Raiders get belted by the Tigers in years to come.

Doubt he'll renege - the list of players Teddy was looking forward to hooking up with didn't include Mansour or Proctor, moreso some of the young blokes coming through the ranks, like Mitch Cornish. Besides that, he actually likes Stuart.

I reckon the only hope we have of retaining him would be if the situation with Brisbane blew up and Milford had to bail out and return to Canberra, but that's probably a long shot as well. By the way, does anyone know why Milford is going to the Broncos with Barba already there? I just thought it was an odd decision on his part, it's not like they need another fullback.

We have a pretty good record over Canberra too don't we ?

Idk what the situation is with the Broncos, but i would think that they would try and offload other players before reneging on Milfords contract if they can.

Got to admit i'd be a little nervous if i was Teddy right now. The Raiders are on struggle street already and Stickyius has promised a clean out at season's end. As it stands with only Teddy signed up, at least 2 players (Proctor, Mansour) and most likely also Ennis denying the Raiders, it does beg the question. Did these guys see something Teddy didn't see?? Was Teddy sold a dummy??

Nervous times in the life of James Tedesco.

don't know if he will do that but i don't think this is over the line just yet. from JT's words it is, club may be still be trying to keep him here.

I think Tedesco should just go. I don't think we want someone here who has acted like he has.

If he can help wests get into the finals and maybe..possibly…hopefully go deep then I'd use him. The best part now is you don't have to hold your breath everytime he gets tackled. I don't want anyone to get hurt but tedesco being sidelined due to injury wouldn't be the issue it once was.

If he is playing like someone that does not want to play for wests ( I doubt that will happen) than drop him but for now he is our best no.1\. Let's use him.

Have never seen so many opinions on one person since Liz Taylor Married her 7th 8th or was it her 9th Husband. LOL.

I wrote a Topic similar to this last night…then I found one had already started, so excuse anything that has already been covered.

I know we are all disappointed with the decision Teddy has made, but surely he wasn’t the only one making this decision…

Is it possible he can renege on his deal and stay with the tigers, similar to what Papalli did last year?

I am forever the optimist and if it is possible, surely we should be trying to get him to change his mind prior to the deadline rather than writing him off and booing him. Are we able to do something to try and get him to stay ie get as many members to sign/send messages, create banners, come up with a song…who knows. I just don’t want to give up yet.

I’m sure Teddy is still questioning whether or not he has made the right decision. Especially now that Proctor, Mansour and by the looks of it Ennis have all rejected offers made by the Raiders.

In saying that, surely the fans response will influence this even more ie if we go out there and boo him it will validate his decision to join the Raiders, however if we go out there and try and convince him to stay it may sway him to renege…

not all players are driven by greed look at proctor and milford. teddy just loves the dollars. **money doesn't buy happiness guys.**

But it sure makes misery a lot more tolerable

MEDIA RELEASE: JAMES TEDESCO

After much thought, James Tedesco has approached the club this evening and advised CEO Grant Mayer that his preference is to stay at the Wests Tigers beyond this season.

Mayer said “there is no doubt that this has been a difficult period for James and his family but we are clearly thrilled that he has decided to stay with the club. This is a brave decision by James that will undoubtedly show many that his belief in his mates and belief in the club far outweighs all other influences. All at the club are delighted with his decision and we will work towards concluding the terms that were last available to him from the Wests Tigers.”

Tedesco added “I firstly need to apologise to the Canberra Raiders for my change of heart. They have been great throughout the whole process. That said, I never felt totally comfortable with my decision and after thinking it through I realised it would be too hard to leave my best mates. I understand that the Raiders and their fans will be disappointed and I apologise to all of them for making this decision and I only hope they will understand.”

The decision by Tedesco is allowed under the NRL rules.

At this stage James wishes to make no further comment.
