It's all a business and at the end of the day, Tigers will offer what we can afford and what we believe is reasonable. If Tedesco decides that is insufficient, if he is more interested in bigger pay packets or promised glories at other clubs, then to hell with him. We don't need the Te'o type mercenary around here, we've already stuck by Tedesco through tough times and don't owe him any special favours.

This is the sad reality
Gone are the days when players were loyal to one club only.

Loyalty $$$ but not when its so commercialised. Everyone is out there looking out for themselves

Yep very sad , very few left in the game.

It's all a beat-up, but it puts pressure on Tigers to do something about it, which you can guarantee they will. Last time I heard this kind of crap around Farah (Parramatta) and Woods (Manly), the re-signing news wasn't far around the corner.

I agree with everything you posted. Tedesco to me seems like he will kick on and become a great player however its not like he is a proven super player. It will take a while before we can make that call.

while there is so much exposure on tedesco i think the tigers should slip him a micky in his water bottle pre game until he plays a few rubbish games and the interest dies down! then sign him and stop drugging him!

"Simples!"

this is true in other careers, not just sport. in my line of work long gone are the days of a company being loyal to an employee and vice versa.

cue metallica: "sad but true…"

Having said that Turn, most companies do pay award or market rates not loyalty rates. I have always found that most employees will stay if they feel valued by the employer and paid the typical market rate. Clubs that feel they need the skills of a certain player in a certain position will always pay above the market.

I can't qualify that to clubs with fantastic benefactors that have bottomless pockets.

People love to post about "loyalty" etc but the bottom line is you can't blame the bloke if he does chase the $.

I hope like all hell that we keep him but this "to hell with him" if he leaves us rubbish is out of line.

If some company came and offered you $100,000 or $150,000 more per year to go work for them doing the exact same job, would you not take it?

It's the sad reality of modern football, the only way to stop the poaching is for the NRL to allow salary cap concessions for players that clubs bring through… For example if a player debut's for your club, only 50% of their wage should count towards the salary cap in my opinion...

It would help a lot of clubs keep their juniors and entice more clubs to bring them through rather then steal them off everybody else.

James probably has a better character than our friend zaibatsu and will stick solid as he know he will be part of the big 3 tigers version. Mayer is too smart to let this one go

Following me around threads now?

All I said is I can't really hold it against any player to take money when it's offered these days.

I hope to god he stays with us! But look at Yow Yeh for example, you're next game could be your last unfortunately and you can't really blame the players for making a living while they can.

Very true, cq, and employment is a two way street. People need to feel they are valued and want to be there and companies should feel they get value for their money.

This is subjective as experiences differ. Money isn't everything, but more money, better working conditions as well as a likely brighter future somewhere else are what clubs or companies have to compete with in an employee/players market.

Familiarity can breed contempt as the saying goes. Tedesco has increased in value due to demand and will go with what is best for him given all factors. I certainly wouldn't blame anyone for this.

Big League Twitter:

Sources inside WT camp tonight say negotiations are ongoing, and that Tedesco wants to stay at club

Give us a break. This isn't 1963\. And this is tedescos livelihood and apart from being a far shorter career than usual, no different to anyone else taking a (perceived) better job.

It is no blight on someone's character, and certainly no cause to attack a posters character - of which you know nothing - because he has an opinion different to yours.

Some good wins in the last couple of weeks surely won't hurt the proceedings!

He will be feeling pretty happy with his combinations with Brooks & Robbie at the moment with some nice wins, we need to get the pen in his hand NOW!

I found it interesting when he was interviewed by Brett finch that instead of saying in coming years his combination with brooks would get better he said as the year went on.

Not reading anything into it, just think ayoub has told him "don't mention the war" until he has re signed, and he is showing great restraint in not letting too much out.
