It was bound to happen. But hurts more that it's official. Could have had something special with Brooks, but good luck to him, that much money as was reported who wouldn't take it.

What a shame!
Surely Potter cannot play him in first grade for the rest of the year? I will be disappointed if he is in our number one jersey for the remainder of this season!

Good on Mayer for not paying overs for a 21 year old kid. The club is in a better position for having a strong head in charge.

This really is a disgrace - just over 10 yrs ago, the club made a decision to put juniors first when we lost Hoffman to Melb over money. Since then, there are few local products that we've not signed up early to keep in the club.

The issue I see here is not that we didn't match the Raiders offer, it's that we didn't get this kid signed up before they even entered the discussion. The comments by Mayer in the statement about him being a marquee for them, but apparently not for us, are an absolute slap in the face to the fans.

I'm going to get slammed over this because according to pretty much everyone on here Mayer can do no wrong, but we've got an amatuer of a CEO and this has finally proven it. It's an embarrassing look for the club to lose a potential superstar after the amount of players we've shed in the past 2-3 years, an absolute embarrassment! Blame previous management for part of it, sure, but this issue should fall squarely in the hands of the CEO.

Oh well, his loss, hope he enjoys the money cause he won't win a premiership with them but he could have with us

If he stays in first grade i would only play him on the wing swapping he and Simona around at times like Minichiello and RTS do at the Roosters.

1.Simona
2.Tedesco
3.Nofoalouma
4.Lawrence
5.Richards

Oh well, while disappointing he is entitled to earn as much as he can given the small frame he has to earn that sort of money.

I can say I have personally left places for massive increases in pay so I am not going to begrudge him.

All I hope for is that he stays injury free and puts in as long as he wears our jersey.

Moving on.

Dont we have a 2nd chance up till June 30 to make a new offer?

Perhaps by then can get a big 3rd party deal

Clubs have up until round 13 to convince the player to renege on the deal but I can't see anything changing in a week. It's a real shame to lose him & not be able to watch the Brooksy & Teddy combo flourish. Good luck to the kid & I don't hold any grudges towards him & can't fault him for taking up the crazy money they offered him.
